Unfortunately, we won't be awarding anyone $100. We've decided to go with a name I already owned. I think this topic shows how very difficult it is to come up with a name that's short, meaningful, memorable, and most importantly available. There were some great names here, but they were taken. Usually, not even in use by a site, but by someone hoping to sell it for a profit. With some of the prices they're asking, I can see why. From PCDoctor at 1.5 million, to SecurityExperts.com for $40K.
We decided to go with a name that didn't contain spyware, malware, or security. While the focus of this site is clearly computer security, and likely will be for a long time, there is also quality help provided in the Other Computer Problems forum. It is probably long overdue some more attention, and expansion. Also, while TomCoyote is a terrific "brand", the fact remains that we are changing the name of the site. Keeping TC in the name just didn't feel right.
TomCoyote.org will now be known as... WhatTheTech.com!
