My computer is running good and fast and I think we are done I want to thank you so much for stepping in for Lee. You were great. I'm back. I cannot find Lee's instructions how to make a rescue disk, I know it was easy, but I am not seeing the round disk that means to burn, at the top left corner, so I must have missed something. I have been going through all your posts and writing every step down on everything we did. It all worked except the restore/rescue disk. Any ideas or can I google it.

You do not need to make another rescue disk Patti, the one you have already made works fine. But for whatever reason you do wish to make another one, instructions are on page 5 post #69 and post #72 of this thread. To tidy up those pesky shortcuts in your picture folder that you don't want there, create a folder in My Pictures, put all the shortcuts in the folder (drag and drop) and name it "unused shortcuts". Copy and paste the folder into Patti / "saved games" folder or some other Patti folder you don't use much. They will not disappear from your desktop. All the best Patti  ... and thank you to ImaBrokeDude for his extra help here.

Lee, thank you so much for talking to me. Would you please unblock me from your messages so I can explain things to you. You have been SO GREAT!, u just don't know what it meant to me.
I didn't plan on making another rescue disk, I am trying to write down all the directions for everything we did, so I wanted to write those directions down too I understand about putting things in a file you don't see again. I have pics of my Mom when she was very sick and then the funeral. Well I don't care to have one of them pop up on the screen, so I do have a folder somewhere of that. .Thank you so much, Patti

Hi Lee - your unblock did not work, still would not let me send message. Also, when I put the shortcuts into the folder, it still took them off the desktop. I guess I have to leave them there. Wonder how they got there. It had to have been when I was in the other forum of getting rid of viruses. Thanks again Lee, have a great day Patti

How come when I click on the external drive, it doesn't pull up my programs where I can recognize? How could I pull up my spreadsheet on Microsoft excel if I had to?

There should be nothing on your external hard drive now except the Reflect ISO and the Hallmark card thingy you saved.

If you wish to explore the Reflect ISO, just right-click it and tick the W7 box in the window that opens and click on OK. Any of the folders in there can be explored but I have no idea in what folder your Excel spreadsheet is. It will be in the same folder it is in on your PC.

Just out of curiosity, how could I access my info by the way you say. I have to open drive J>then drive K and then some other stuff that I don't remember, but I didn't know I had a drive K. I thought all the info was on my external drive which is drive J. Just wondering

When you explorer your Reflect ISO image, it emulates a drive being there so explorer to see it.

Drive J: is a real drive while Drive K: is a Virtual Drive.

When you are in the K drive on the top right corner of explorer there is a search bar.

In there for excel document types *.xls or *.xlsx then press Enter.

If Macrium Reflect free is updated by File Hippo updater, do you need to make a new image and rescue disc?

I just wanted to say I imaged my pcs with Macrium reflect and then recovered with it. It is the fastest and smoothest I have ever used. It is faster than Acronis by far. I am glad I made the switch.

Hi Lee, This is going to be hard to explain. All but 3 of my topics have been deleted. I wanted to make 2 backup files - one for pictures and one for financials. You told me how to do that with a picture of it, but that has been deleted by the forum. I hope you remember because I don't know how to explain it. Also, I did a reflect backup today and the drive was not J, it was I. Is that normal for it to just change drives like that? I am getting my new laptop Monday and away we go, wish me luck. Thanks, Patti

I found where we talked about backing up pictures and financials, but it was not the complete conversation and it wasn't this thread. How do I tell you where the partial part of this is? I am so busy with Mothers Day and drs, etc. I have to have this done by Monday. I put a disk in the computer, opened it up and it said drag pictures to the disk. I copied, but it wouldn't paste. The pictures and financials would be on the external hard drive wouldn't they?

I googled how to copy pics to a cd and all I can find is to "burn" them on a cd. I don't have a cd burner and I know that is not what you told me to do. I wish I could find where you told me. I have read 11 pages of posts, and then another 5 pages and cannot find it. If I am not making sense I am sorry and will pay to have the tech who is coming to set up my laptop do it. In post 61 on the other thread that has 11 pages, this is what I am talking about QUOTE Can I give you now what I get when I download your copy andmove attachment=14214:move_to_copy_thing.JPG] How do I get it to look like yours. Double click on each one in turn and reboot. They will both install automatically and after you reboot you right-click menu will look like mine smile.gif -------------------- "Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most"
