Something is goofy with mcaffee, it keeps getting disabled for no reason and no longer auto updates but otherwise fine.

Hi wilma1313, There is a known issue with McAfee and System Restore. It's possible that the problem occurred when you used System Restore a few posts back. Have you tried manually updating the program? This seems to resolve the problem in many cases.

Hi wilma1313,

I not sure if these applt to you but you might want to check them just in case.1) Open Mcafee AntiVirus

2) Click On Navigation

3) Go to Real-Tine Scanning

4) Scroll down to Extended Protection

5) Make sure both items are checked

Close and reboot system

You may also want to try the steps in this Document

checked all the mcaffee stuff and everything is on that is supposed to be - problem is it just randomly turns off for no discernible reason. Since the scans are not showing anything, he can try to take that up with mcafee I guess.... We're just happy its unrelated to any infections

Ok, the virtual tech fixed something. i ran the thing from the next step. It all says if the real time scanning is still disabled proceed, but his scanning only disabled intermittently - never totally disabled. he does not have any conflicting software. He thinks its not been disabled lately, but not sure. Thanks for all your help, I think we can be done. Any more mcafee issues he can take up with mcaffee. Thanks!

Hi wilma1313, Good job. you're more than welcome. I agree if the McAfee issue continues the McAfee forum would be the best choice.
