the icon on the taskbar notification area that shows how much power use is left has disappeared, im assuming it was one of the things we removed from start up
No it's nothing we disabled from start-up. Please re-check to make sure you didn't disable anything else besides what is on this list (?)
Here are the start-up items I asked you to disable (not remove), with all items explained rather than just some of them:
screen clipper window +s (a snip tool. If you don't use it disable it)
wmpnscfg (is used to alert users when a new media device is found or available on the network).
ehtray.exe (ehtray.exe is a process is the tray bar for the Microsoft Media Center. It gives you easy access to the digital media manager. This is a non-essential process)
msnmsgr (leave enabled if you use msn messenger a lot)
toscdspd (toscdspd.exe is a process associated with the Toshiba Laptop CD/DVD drivers. This is a non-essential process)
sidebar (useless, unless you particularly like and use this feature)
adobe arm (otherwise known as Adobe Reader and Acrobat Manager, is an autoupdate utility that notifies you, downloads, and installs new updates for these products. If you install these updates manually then you do not need this program to start up automatically)
adobe reader speed launcher (Speeds up the time it takes to load the Adobe Reader application, but ia not required for Adobe Reader to function properly)
tkbellexe (belongs to realplayer but does not need to be in the start-up list)
brmfcwnd (Brother scanner status monitor - can be started manually)
groovemonitor (unless you use the 'groove' utility in windows office, disable this)
camera assistant software (not needed in start-up)
smoothview (a zoom tool. Disable it if you don't use it in documents etc.)
igfxtray (Quick access to the graphics control panel via a System Tray icon. It is not required to start automatically as you can run it when you need to from the Control Panel).
There are several sites that can explain what any process is. Briefly or in depth.
Here is one of them I used:

PS Edit:
I'm still looking into the CPU issue, but I haven't had much free time over this Weekend.
