Hello Techno. Did you run the JavaMSIFix program? If, do that, then try your installation again.

If you still have an issue with the same message, then download and install the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility. Once installed, find the program on your start menu and run it. Find and remove any Java Runtime listings you find. Then run the JavaMSIFix one more time. This will probably resolve the issue.

Hi just wanted to repeat this excellent info, in my own words ;)

Installing Java:

Posted Image

You can find out why you need to update Java HERE
Once downloaded just run (to download fully), and install.

----------------------------

Java install sometimes errors!

Errors include:
1. "Internal Error 2753. regutils.dll"
2a. "This software has already been installed on your computer. Would you like to reinstall it?"
Upon clicking 'Yes' you receive:
2b. "This action is only valid for products that are currently installed."
3. More errors stated HERE

Very annoying! But there is a Fix :)

Firstly in "Task Manager" > Processes Tab. Kill any/all running Java processes eg. java, jqs, javaws etc

Then just download this Java Fix tool > JavaMSIFix.exe and run it. ("Download File" near middle of that page)

More (technical) info HERE

----------------------------

Then re-run the newest Java update
Or download the entire Java (offline) update and run that:

----------------------------

Once Java is finally installed properly!
I'd suggest downloading/running JavaRa to remove any older versions of Java

----------------------------

In the very unlikely event the above doesn't work!
I'd suggest running a quick updated scan with free Malwarebytes first
Making sure to remove all found Malwares then restart and try again.

----------------------------

:)

Just want to say thank you. I'm working as a IT-Consultant, second level support, with amongst other things eBanking support. Our eBanking runs on Java, and our department have helped many a customer by guiding them to this JavaFixer. It helps with lots of other problems besides "Java Already Installed". It alos helps when Java won't uninstall at all, if you run the JavaFixer, delete the Java folder and install Offline, preferably with Run as administrator. It's not a beautiful solution, but it's efficient. If you could make an upgraded version that removed all traces of Java from the computer, you would be my hero :D

I just registered to say thanks--I've used your msi for removing borked Java twice in the last couple months and it's saved me a lot of time. (I'm a desktop support tech.) Thanks for making it available!

I am having trouble trying to install mathcad onto my windows 7 64bit laptop. Everytime i run the installation i get an error 1723, windows installer error, missing dll file. I have tried your fix, installed the new Java 6 update 30, run the fix, then installed Java again and i still get this error when trying to install mathcad. I would appreciate any guidance on this issue.

Harmon... I cannot think of a good reason to not update an XP operating system up through SP3 and the additional 96+ patches beyond SP3. Unless your XP OS is somehow compromised and will not pass Windows Genuine Advantage scanning. Comment?

Doug, I have read that many people have problems after installing to SP3. It is a major install and I have to get up the guts to do it.

Hi Harmon,

Major new releases and updates of software "are" often problematic for early adopters.
However, developers soon learn (from user feedback and complaints) about specific hardware and software exceptions that they may not have accounted for in their initial release, and (sort of promptly) provide revisions to make life easier for later adopters.

SP3 has been out for a very long time now, and most of the many millions of Windows XP users have successfully updated to SP3 and the hundred or so patches that are critical even beyond SP3.

SP3 is a large download, and running Windows Updates is about as fun as watching paint dry on the wall, but it is Highly Recommended.
