Hi Everyone,

A tried to fond out why I always have my network in activity. At every 2 secondes I see activity on my connection. I did'nt see anything abdormal in task manager but I am not an expert. This is why I ran a Hijack to see if you could help me.

I've been infected by Manwithnoname Spamrelayer a few months ago and got rid of it using Spysweeper.

This time a tried SpyBot, Adaware, Spysweeper, A2square in safe mode with no result.

Here is the log from Hijack hopping you will find something

Many thanks in advance.

Cheers

Welcome to the forum :wavey:

Is it a spyware that uses my connection?

Unfortunately... Yes :(

This entry in the log:

O23 - Service: Windows Log - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\system32\nvsvcd.exe

Is indicative of:

Troj/IRCBot-HA

CLOSE ALL WINDOWS (even this one) AND PROGRAMS!!!!

Run Hijack This!
Click "Do a systen scan only".
Then "check" the box to the left of these item(s):

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =

R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar,LinksFolderName =

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "D:\Program Files\qttask.exe" -atboottime

O23 - Service: Windows Log - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\system32\nvsvcd.exe

Then click "Fix checked" and close Hijack This!.

Now, please go to:

Start --> Run

In the box type in services.msc then hit < Enter > (or click OK)

In the Name column look for:

Windows Log

< Double-click > it.

In the dialogue box that pops up, check in the Path to executable box.

It should say: C:\WINDOWS\system32\nvsvcd.exe

That's how to be sure you have the right one.

Now, click Stop to stop that rogue process.

In the Startup type box, change it to Disabled.

Click Apply then OK

Close the services.msc window.

Reboot in "safe" mode.

Delete all of the following noted (in red) file(s)/FOLDER(s) you can find:

C:\Documents and Settings\Familledurero\local settings\temp\netf.dll <--- file

c:\windows\system32\netf.dll <--- file

c:\windows\system32\nvsvcd.exe <--- file

Some malware files may be "hidden".
Be sure to show hidden files when looking for these file(s) and/or folder(s).

Reboot in normal mode and "copy/paste" a new log file into this thread. :)

The log is clean of any infection.

Are things "normal" for you now?

I have a cable modem, and there's "activity" on it (the lights blink) all the time, and I have no trojans or infections. Does that help?

Just to be sure we're "on the same page"....

I have five lights on my modem.

They are:

PC - Blinks steadily all the time when I am online.

Cable - Is always on

Send - Only on when my machine is "sending"

Receive - Blinks erratically constantly

Power - Always on

A sign of "infection" would be if your "send" light blinks when you are not "sending" anything (knowingly). It would also blink if one of your programs is "updating" in the background.

With that in mind, I'll consider this "solved", unless you post back that your "send" is "sending" when it shouldn't.

I was probably not clear enough. I am connected through a Wifi connection on a Dlink router. When I say I see activity it is actualy on the Icon of my network connection at the bottom right corner of my screen (next to the clock in the running programs). Usualy updates are done at start but not all the time. I even tried to connect through my modem ADSL box directly with the same results. I just did my verifications with Spyware programs, clean my registry but always this regular activity. I don't want to take all your time but I don't know what to do next

I am connected through a Wifi connection on a Dlink router.

Wireless connections can be "hacked".

We could check for things that don't show up in a "normal" HijackThis! log, if you'd like.

If you want, we should start here, and work our way "up", so to speak. There would be two more programs to run after this. The last being a check for a "rootkit" infection.

Run Hijack This!.

Click on Open Misc Tools section

To the right of Generate Startuplist log, there are two boxes.

Check them both, then click Generate Startuplist log.

"Copy/paste" the startuplist log into this thread.

Well it'S long

It's supposed to be "long".

I can see from the log that we may have a "language" difference.

I don't speak French. HOWEVER, I can mumble incoherently in Spanish if you'd like...

This jumped out at me:

Verifying REGEDIT.EXE integrity:

- Regedit.exe found in C:\WINDOWS
- .reg open command is normal (regedit.exe %1)
- Regedit.exe has no CompanyName property! It is either missing or named something else.
- Regedit.exe has no OriginalFilename property! It is either missing or named something else.
- Regedit.exe has no FileDescription property! It is either missing or named something else.

Registry check failed!

When I do the same thing on my machine, I get this:

Verifying REGEDIT.EXE integrity:

- Regedit.exe found in C:\WINDOWS
- .reg open command is normal (regedit.exe %1)
- Company name OK: 'Microsoft Corporation'
- Original filename OK: 'REGEDIT.EXE'
- File description: 'Registry Editor'

Registry check passed

Navigate to this file:

C:\WINDOWS\REGEDIT.EXE

Put your cursor on it, and post back everything that it shows in the "bubble" that pops up.

I've not heard of that file being "hijacked", but in today's world, anything is possible.
:)

Looks good.

On the first clean up steps you made me do, was i suppose to replace the valuec:\windows\system32\nvscvd.exe by something else???

No.

Please go here:

Silent Runners.org

Download/run the silentrunners.vbs script.

If your antivirus complains about it, tell it to allow this script - It's safe.

When you run it, click "Yes" to the "Skip supplementary searches".

It will take a few minutes to run.

When it fininshes, it will tell you what text file it put the results in (it will be in the same folder the VBS file was downloaded into).

Open it up with Notepad, and paste it into your next post, please.
