All removals seem to fix problems, that is, all but Norton which is unable to remove 2 items:

Adware.Topsearch 6E637BF9-7CAE-4B0C-ABDC-c6....
When attempting to manually remove via Symantec instruction, noted registry items to be removed are not present.
Obviously, not sure if these are the culprit though.
Symptoms:
-- Windows "cascade" or "trickle" closed, sometimes leaving their content on a window behind.
-- System "freezing" and requiring a CPU shutdown and reboot.
-- Overall system slowness.
-- Desired link(s) that previously worked is misdirected to either a Google "search box" page, a Google "search results" page, a casino, porn, mortgage etc. ad-type page, or, a white "can not be displayed" page.
-- More "clicking" sounds when transfering or attempting to.
-- Pointer at times is slow and jerky, especially over toolbar icons.
-- Items (icons) added to or moved to My Computer screen and Local Disk (C:) screen.
-- Frequently get the "program is shutting down" window and progress meter on simple window closes.
-- When visiting a webpage and subsequently visiting one of the sites other pages, pressing "back" requires the original page to reload. Especially grapics, images etc. This is new. Pages used to remain "loaded"
...and more.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am fearful of a system meltdown.
