Hi
New member here, so please excuse any fumblings
I had a severe adware/spyware attack and cleaned most of them with Ad-Aware prog. but even after deep scans, the pop ups still appear and web addresses are still in my browers settings which take me to sites I don't want to go to.
I deleted all my temp files
Here is a log from Hijack This after the temp files were deleted. Can anyone help before i shout Beam me up Scotty ?
Thanks
Paul

Please download and run CWShredder here
Make sure that all browser windows are closed with the exception of Cwshredder and choose FIX.

We have found that some of the CWS infections can be removed better from safe mode, rather than normal mode.
To get to safe mode use the F8 key while booting the machine.
Detailed instructions from here

Then post another log.

Download L2mfix from one of these two locations:

http://www.atribune....oads/l2mfix.exe
http://www.downloads....org/l2mfix.exe

Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

if you receive, while running option #1, an error similar like: ''C:\windows\system32\cmd.exe
C:\windows\system32\autoexec.nt the system file is not suitable for running ms-dos and microsoft windows applications. choose close to terminate the application.."...then please use option 5 or the web page link in the l2mfix folder to solve this error condition. do not run the fix portion without fixing this first.

Close any programs you have open since this step requires a reboot.

From the l2mfix folder on your desktop, double click l2mfix.bat and select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and then pressing enter, then press any key to reboot your computer. After a reboot, your desktop and icons will appear, then disappear (this is normal). L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it back into this thread, along with a new hijackthis log.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other files in the l2mfix folder unless you are asked to do so!
If after the reboot the desktop icons dont dissappear or the log does not pop up then in the l2mfix folder double click the second.bat file to continue with the fix.

Hi I have been out this evening and just got back. I'm in UK OK, I did as you said, but as the FIX was running after it's second scan, it closed down with what I thought was an error message, but it was on screen for too shorter period for me to read and report to you. It left me with just the blank screen. I switched off manually, and ran the FIX again, but the same thing happened. The nessage was too quick, but I think, only think, it said something like, unable to reboot. Anyway, this time I left the blank screen to see if anything will happen, but nothing did, so I switched off manually again. Await your analyse of this development Thanlks and regards Paul

Please set your system to show
all files; please see here if you're unsure how to do this.

Here are the directions for creating a zip file For Windows XP:
Using Windows Explorer, locate the first file you want to zip.
Right click on the file and select Send To and Compressed (zipped) Folder.
Right click any other files you want to compress and select Copy.
Right click on the compressed folder and select Paste. The copied files will be compressed and pasted in.

Please upload the zip file if you can if you can't then upload the the files without zipping. here

C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\zirr\zirrm.exe

Hi I followed the show all files instructions as outlined in your attachment I then used Windows Explorer and found zirr file which had zirrd folder, but this folder was empty. I then put in your exact file address to find including the ~ extensions, and it said it could not find this file or folder, check name etc I then did a search for zirrm.exe and was not found. I double check everything again, but send this to you in the meantime Thanks Paul

Download System Security Suite v1.04
3S Home page.

Download Pocket Killbox and unzip it; save it to your Desktop. We may need it later.

Reboot in safe mode. Close all Browser and Program Windows.
Have HijackThis fix the following. Do this by checking the box beside each and then clicking on Fix checked.
