This game is quite simple. Many of you will have seen it on other forums.

A couple of lines of lyrics are posted. You provide the name of the song (and who sang it if possible). Then you provide a couple lines of lyrics of a new song for others to guess.

so.... first lyrics:

There's a lady who's sure
All that glitters is gold

Well, I don't really play these kinds of Threads.... but this is just such a classic from the all-time best Led Zepplin Stairway to Heaven. _____________________________ Now this one is just the opposite - Obscure But it is written and sung by one of the all time greats I give a few more words of the lyrics "Oh the price of Gold is Rising out of sight, and the dollar is in sorry shape tonight." ...... ...... "So I am changing my name to ____________ _____________, And I'm going down to Washington, D.C." .... .... When my creditors are screaming for my dough, I'll be proud to tell them all where they can go." ... ... Last line is: "I'll get mine."

Nice

"I'm changing my name to Chrysler" - Arlo Guthrie (written by Tom Paxton)

A long, long time ago...
I can still remember
How that music used to make me smile.
And I knew if I had my chance
That I could make those people dance
And, maybe, they’d be happy for a while.

He sings it both ways.
And I had thought the wording with "Chrysler" was written by Guthrie, but no. You are correct, it was Tom Paxton for both.

"Will the Circle be Unbroken" - could be alot of people, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Arlo Guthrie, Willie Nelson, Johny Cash... but I think the original was the Carter Family.

I think at the time, I only listened to the sweet pleading of intimacy. "Put your sweet lips a little closer to the phone" I don't even recall being aware of the constant reminder of "or will you tell him he'll have to go." Those were the days of marathon telephone... late 50's and early 60's I'm sure I only heard the words to the music that fit how I wanted to feel, and what I wanted my phone partner to experience. Actually to be reminded that this is a "two-timing love nearly lost" song is rather shocking to me now. Because I flat out don't remember that part. Cowboy music by Jim Reeves "He'll have to go."

Nicely done. He had a phenomenal voice... and that song was perfect for it. Do you have new lyrics to offer?
