My other household computer (Acer laptop running Vista) has an infection, however I cannot find exactly what. Malwarbytes scan shows no malicious files. Avast cannot complete its anti-virus scan. Alert messages continue to pop up confirming if I want to send certain files to the Recycle Bin, when I never initiated any such action. Now internet explorer cannot stay open long enough to solicit help online. Any attempt to save a log in Notepad fails because the text deletes itself, one row at a time! Therefore I have no HijackThis log to post. Can anyone help? Thank you!!!!
Hi, and Welcome to WhatTheTech :)

Apologies in the delay in a response. We are overwhelmed with logs at the moment and there aren't enough helpers to go around. If you still require help, please do the following:

To be honest with you, it sounds a bit like your delete key is either stuck down or in a state where it is continuously sending "down" signals to the computer. First of all, check that the key isn't stuck, maybe tap it yourself as well as that can help un-stick.

There of course is every possibility that there is Malware behind this as well.

If you are now in a state where you can post a log, please do the following:

Please download DDS and save it to your desktop.
  • Disable any script blocking protection
  • Double click dds.scr to run the tool.
  • When done two logs should open:

    DDS.txt
    Attach.txt

  • Save both reports to your desktop.
—————————————————
  • Post the contents of the DDS.txt report in your next reply
  • Attach the Attach.txt report to your post by scrolling down to the Attachments area and then clicking Browse. Browse to where you saved the file, and click Open and then click UPLOAD.

If not, please run HijackThis and hit Do A System Scan and Save A Logfile. This will create a log and save it for your, usually called hijackthis.log and in the same folder as HijackThis. Please Attach this report in your next reply.

Please also describe how your computer is behaving at the moment, listing any symptoms and problems that you are experiencing.

Thanks.
