Malwarebytes anti-malware found a trace of Hijack.help in the registry, which it deleted, yet firefox, IE7 and Opera are painfully slow to start up.

Here is my log, any help would be appreciated! :)

Hi stoned1974

Did you have COMODO Internet Security installed, but have now removed it.????

So far your logs look fine, apart from the 1 reg key in the Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware log, but just to make sure let's
look a little deeper with a online scan. Apart from firefox, IE7 and Opera are slow to start up are you getting any popups or system slow downs??.

First please run CCleaner, that you already have installed.

  • Click the "Run Cleaner" button.
  • A pop up box will appear advising this process will permanently delete files from your system.
  • Click "OK"
  • CCleaner will scan and clean your system.
  • When cleaning is complete:
  • Click "Exit".
  • Repeat for all usernames.

Please go to Kaspersky website and perform an online antivirus scan.

  • Read through the requirements and privacy statement and click on Accept button.
  • It will start downloading and installing the scanner and virus definitions. You will be prompted to install an application from Kaspersky. Click Run.
  • When the downloads have finished, click on Settings.
  • Make sure these boxes are checked (ticked). If they are not, please tick them and click on the Save button:
    • Spyware, Adware, Dialers, and other potentially dangerous programs
      Archives
      Mail databases
  • Click on My Computer under Scan.
  • Once the scan is complete, it will display the results. Click on View Scan Report.
  • You will see a list of infected items there. Click on Save Report As….
  • Save this report to a convenient place. Change the Files of type to Text file (.txt) before clicking on the Save button.
  • Please post this log in your next reply.

Please post back with

Information on COMODO Internet Security
I noticed that I had 2 firewall entries. I had Kaspersky installed but moved the license to another pc, then I installed comodo but I think it did not install fully and then installed ZA. I ran the uninstall for comodo but it said something about being corrupt and there for would not uninstall. I will delete the comodo folder and then run ccleaner and see how it goes. Oh and I do not have internet access on said pc, might be due to the firewalls conflicting ? When I get online access i shall run Kaspersky online scan :) I will let you know of any problems The system is zipping along nicely apart from the browsers, no pop ups! Thanks for your help so far Paul
All done and working again. Indeed Comodo was the issue, after install it left a mess but all is cleared. Cheers for your help and close thread time! Paul
