I am having trouble finding a java in a zip file ...

Sidequestion: When you install Java, do you do it from a downloaded desktop exe. file or do you run it from the site??

I have an java.exe file on my desk top that I install with but I think its a installer. The file name is jxpiinstall-6u11-fcs-bin-b90-windows-i586-25_nov_2008.exe. maybe you know of a location that I might find what I need or should I just stay with what I got and reinstall in safe mode?

Hi again

I usually get my Java from here: http://java.sun.com/...ds/?intcmp=1281 Pick first choice, the Java SE Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 11. Download to desktop, before removing old Java.

Do note, that as from the new Java 10 and onwards you no longer need to uninstall Java in order to
to update. Unless one is experiencing problems, as in your case. So once installed, it is just to install
and it will overwrite now.

FF is back speed is normal thank you!! whistling.gif

 (That whistling Gif.?? Fixed by my recommendation?, or did you make a mistake somewhere? B) )

Keep us posted on the safe-mode install.

Hi When I installed my new copy of windows I put a password on my safe mode administrators profile as soon as I had installed before anything else was installed, and seem to have misplaced my paper with the password on it. I do have administrator privileges with my user account but it still says that I can not install in safe mode because the administrator configuration will not allow the instillation. I am very worried about my password I was sure I knew what it was. I will try until I get it or I guess I'll reinstall windows. But as I have said before My system is running great. Just the occasional untimely cursor disappearance. So until I have major problems I will not be reinstalling windows. there is a way to uninstall plugins? because even when I have no java I still have the java plugins in my tools drop menu.

You should be able to boot to Safe Mode and login with your normal account. Then open Control Panel and User Accounts and change the password for Administrator. That's the beauty of having more than one Administrator level account.

Hi

For IE7

and

for FireFox

I would like to give a note of caution when you go hunt Plugins. And that is that it isn't always
clear as to what plugins does what, and if you can safely remove without crippling your browser.
Let google be your friend, look them up before deciding. Moving them to a temporary folder is also
valueable, as you can always bring them back if needed.

Go to your address bar, type: About:Plugins, then hit enter.

You will now come to a screen where you can see all your plugins. Take note of the file name
for the plugin in question, and then find it via search function. Delete the plugin. Easy as that.

My last notion in previous post, about being cautious, still stands of course.

well thank you for the heads up

Go to your address bar, type: About:Plugins, then hit enter.

 that's great. But I renamed the plugin file (npdeploytk.dll) and that did it all of my java was gone so satisfied I reinstalled java and it reinstalled this file (npdeploytk.dll) which I now know is good.

So all of this and I still have my little problem.

This is the java thread stack dump when I first log on to yahoo games and I do not really know what I'm looking at maybe someone out there can tell me if this thread stack is normal?

Hi Hmmm, that java thing you have posted, I can't tell what it means. Someone else might tho. So, summa summarum, no improvement after removing all java and re-install in safe-mode, *sigh* Have you tried change cursor look to a black one? Just for testing. It might reveal if the cursor actually disappears. Taking that thought a step further, a non-microsoft mouse theme might also remedy the situation. Otherwise I am stumped at the moment  Regards Abydos
