Hi all,
I have this crazy antivirus that i can not get rid of. i have searched everywhere on the internet and have tried everything. i'll try to describe everything so far.
first, my desktop turned blue and i got the pop up: Attention! if your computer is struck by spyware, you could suffer data loss… blah blah blah
when i get on the internet i get different pop ups or mostly get: Windows is scanning your system for threats. The scanning is provided by our official partner Antispyware scanner..
or Firefox tells me it has failed to connect.

I have tried following other similar posts…
I first use ATF Cleaner and when that is done I try to run Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware. i was able to get the program extracted from the mbam-setup.exe, but this is where i cant seem to get anywhere else, it looks like it will open up because of the hourglass that appears, but then it never opens up at all. I have tried going into safe mode and running malwarebytes and it doesnt open up either.

I have also tried running Spybot- Search & Destroy and SuperAntispyware on normal and in safe mode, but the same thing happens where it looks like it will open up but never does.
Then only thing that has opend up and ran on safe mode is Dr. Web Cure it [removed], but that has not helped with anything… i will post the log in the end if it helps along with the HJT Log.

I had spy sweeper v5.3.1.2344 but now when i start up my pc i get "Error: The Spy Sweeper installation has been damaged. Please reinstall the product. (105)" and "Error: The connection to the Spy Sweeper engine has been lost or terminated. Spy Sweeper will now close and restart."
I cant seem to reinstall or uninstall it. When trying to uninstall i get "Error: C:\program files\webroot\spy sweeper\unins000.dat file is corrupted. cannot uninstall."

Please let me know if you have any idea what i cant try.
Thanks.

Hello and Welcome to the forum.

DO NOT use any TOOLS such as Combofix, Vundofix, or HijackThis fixes without supervision.

Doing so could make your pc inoperatible and could require a full reinstall of your OS, losing all your programs and data.

Stay with this topic until I give you the all clean post.

You might want to print these instructions out.

I suggest you do this:

Double-click My Computer.
Click the Tools menu, and then click Folder Options.
Click the View tab.
Uncheck "Hide file extensions for known file types."
Under the "Hidden files" folder, select "Show hidden files and folders."
Uncheck "Hide protected operating system files."
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Please do not delete anything unless instructed to.

Next:

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
Download - ATF Cleaner»

Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.

(If you use FireFox or the Opera browser
To keep saved passwords, click No at the prompt.)

It's normal after running ATF cleaner that the PC will be slower to boot the first time.

Next:

Download ComboFix from one of these locations:

Link 1
Link 2
Link 3

* IMPORTANT !!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop

  • Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools. Note: If you are having difficulty properly disabling your protective programs, or are unsure as to what programs need to be disabled, please refer to the information available through this link : Protective Programs

  • Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.

Note: Combofix will run without the Recovery Console installed.

  • As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.

  • Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.

**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.

Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:

[external image: Posted Image]

Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware.

When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply.
"copy/paste" a new HijackThis log file into this thread as well.

Notes:

1.Do not mouse-click Combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.
2. ComboFix may reset a number of Internet Explorer's settings, including making I-E the default browser.
3. Combofix prevents autorun of ALL CD, floppy and USB devices to assist with malware removal & increase security. If this is an issue or makes it difficult for you – please tell your helper.
4. CF disconnects your machine from the internet. The connection is automatically restored before CF completes its run. If CF runs into difficulty and terminates prematurely, the connection can be manually restored by restarting your machine.

Give it atleast 20-30 minutes to finish if needed.

Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.
Hey I have some very disappointing news… first of all, i cant get to the hidden files under my computer because the tools bar seems changed, it only gives me these three options: -Map Network Drive… -Disconnect Network Drive… -Synchronize… I tried customizing it to show the Folder Options on the toolbar, but when i click on it on the toolbar it does nothing. I am not able to get on the internet because i get a Failed to Connect window every time i try going anywhere useful. I am using another computer to download the programs and transfer it by a memory stick. The ATF Cleaner ran in normal boot fine, but Combo Fix doesnt run at all. I have CF on my desktop and when i go to double click it, it looks like it will open up because of the hourglass by the pointer that appears but never opens up at all. Its the same for Malwarebytes and superantispyware, I have tried running Combo Fix in Safe Mode with Network but same thing happens where it doesnt open up at all. You need To disable TeaTimer, it can stop our fix.

The best way is to do both, Right click the system tray icon and shut down. This will reset TT's registry snapshot. Then, open spybot in advanced mode and turn it off. When cleaning is done, open Spybot in advanced mode to turn back on. Once fix is completed in the all clear post!!

Looks like you're running 4 anti-virus programs.
Symantec
McAfee
AVG8
AVG7

Never install more than one Antivirus and Firewall! Rather than giving you extra protection, it will decrease the reliability of it seriously!
The reason for this is that if both products have their automatic (Real-Time) protection switched on, your system may lock up due to both software products attempting to access the same file at the same time.
Also because more than one Antivirus and Firewall installed are not compatible with each other, it can cause system performance problems and a serious system slowdown.

Please do not delete anything unless instructed to.

1.Click Start > Settings > Control Panel.
2.Next, open Add/Remove Programs and remove 3 of the 4 if listed:
Symantec
McAfee
AVG8
AVG7

Also uninstall these:
AskSBar
MalwareRemovalBot

Next:

1. launch Notepad (Start>All Programs>Accessories), and copy/paste all the Quoted REGEDIT below to it. Don't forget to include REGEDIT4.
Save in: Desktop
File Name: fixme.reg
Save as Type: All files
Click: Save

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows]
"AppInit_DLLs"=""

2. Save this text as fixme.reg. Make sure the "Save as type:" is "All Files (*.*)" and save it to your desktop. Include the word REGEDIT4

3. Double-click on fixme.reg. When it asks you to merge the information to the registry click Yes.

Next:

Run hijackthis. Hit None of the above, Click Do a System Scan Only. Put a checkmark/tick in the box on the left side on these:

Reboot and "copy/paste" a new HijackThis log file into this thread.

Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.
Hey, I tried getting rid of TeaTimer the way u told me, but Spybot would not open up at all. I was able to shut it down but i does not open up at all to try n get into the advanced mode. I deleted Symantec, McAfee, and AskBar, but never found MalwareRemovalBot. AVG7 was not listed in the Add/Remove Programs list, only AVG8 so i kept that. I also regret to inform that i deleted Spybot in the process because i was getting angry at the computer and didnt want the TeaTimer to interfere with anything else. I performed the REGEDIT copy/paste task u have asked with the updated HJT Log. My computer is still not opening up any programs such as MBAM, ComboFix, and SuperAntiSpyware to get rid of the malware. If the Windows Advanced Options Menu does not appear, try restarting and then pressing F8 several times after the POST screen. Choose the Safe Mode option from the Windows Advanced Options Menu then press Enter. This can take several miniutes to load. Once loaded try MBAM

No. You just won't be able to update it. Just go ahead and let it run.
it says Scanning for infected files… its been more then 20 minutes now but i cant tell if its still running. when and if it finishes i'll post the log with another HJT log
