Hi, I had someone messing with my World of Warcraft account and everytime I'd change the password, it'd change to something else, making it impossible tof me to access it anymore. I think that there is a keylogger on my laptop. I'm also having problems with Firefox - I haven't been able to run it since yesterday…I tried Safe mode and it worked but when I closed the window and tried to run it again, nothing would happen. I even tried re-installing Firefox and that didnt do anything as well. I also ran SpyBot: S&D about five times and it never detected anything.

Here is the log from Hijackthis:

Hi faithmarie, welcome to the forum.

Please be advised, as I'm still in training, all my replies will have to be approved by a teacher or expert before I can post them. This may cause some delays, but I will do my best to keep them as short as possible.

To make cleaning this machine easier
  • Please do not uninstall/install any programs unless asked to
It is more difficult when files/programs are appearing in/disappearing from the logs.
  • Please do not run any scans other than those requested
  • Please follow all instructions in the order posted
  • If you have problems with or do not understand the instructions, Please ask before continuing.
I will post back soon with additional instructions.

Thanks
We need to see your Hosts file. Please click the start button, click run. copy and paste the following line into the run box and click OK

notepad "C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC\Hosts"

A notepad will open. Please copy and paste the contents of the notepad into your next reply. If it's too large, attach it.

To attach a file, do the following:
  • Under the reply panel is the Attachments Panel
  • Browse for the attachment file you want to upload, then click the green Upload button
  • Once it has uploaded, click the Manage Current Attachments drop down box
  • Click on [external image: Posted Image] to insert the attachment into your post
I need some information on an unidentified file. We will use Virustotal

To submit a file to virustotal, please click on this link

www.virustotal.com

copy and paste the following into the upload a file box

c:\windows\system\Update.exe

scroll down a bit and click "send file", wait for the results and post them in your next reply.

Please note that sometimes the scans take a few minutes. Please ensure that the scan has completed.

Please download RSIT by random/random from HERE and save it to your desktop.

  • Double click on RSIT.exe to run RSIT.
  • Click Continue at the disclaimer screen.
  • Once it has finished, two logs will open. Please post the contents of both log.txt (will be maximized) and info.txt (will be minimized)
Please include in your next reply, the hosts file, the virus total results and both RSIT logs. No need for a HJT log this time, one will be included in the RSIT logs.

Thanks
