[Resolved] Annyoing Virtumonde.dll and Virtumonde.exe keeps commi

Hey this is my second post here ( besides my introduction on into page ). i started getting popups whenever i open IE..or any other browser ( such as firefox ) theyre just random popups…I Scanned my system with Spybot-Search and destroy…it picks up Virtumonde.DLL and virtumonde.exe ( i did some resaerch and it told me to remove this i have to disconnect from internet which i did ) and i clicked fix…but apparently it keeps comming back! i tried it in safe mode aswell…same thing happens…Then i searched google and came across this site : http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/malware-re…undo-virtumonde i sscanned using vundofix nothing was detected…i then tried virtomunoBegone restarted…( checked the log file and it diddnt pick up anything) i scande once again using search and destroy and its still there!…nothing appears to work…please..any help would be greatly appreciated!

EDIT: forgot to mention..when ever i turn on my computer automatic updates are always disabled…when i try to turn it on it doesnt turn on…if i manually go to autoupdate throught control panel…i have it set to " Automatic updated on". This sarted when the popups started aoccuring aswell…my guess is that its virtumonde?…dunno…

Download HijackThis from Here .
  • If using Internet Explorer, Please select RUN
  • If Using Firefox, Download to your Desktop and then Double-Click on Icon to start installation.
  • Choose the default location of C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis as the destination. HJT needs to be in its own folder so that the program itself isn't deleted by accident. Having the backups could be VITAL to restoring your system if something went wrong in the FIX process!
  • Click the Install button.
  • Accept the license agreement .
  • The progam will place a shortcut on your desktop. This will make it easier for you to access the tool when required.
  • Click Do a system scan and save a log file. A Notepad file will open.
  • To post the text, first you must highlight the entire text and then press the (Ctrl+C) keys which copies it to your clipboard.
  • Now paste the log into this thread using the (Ctrl + V) buttons.


DO NOT MAKE ANY CHANGES OR CLICK "FIX CHECKED" UNTIL WE CHECK THE LOG, AS MOST OF THE FILES ARE LEGIT AND VITAL TO THE FUNCTION OF YOUR COMPUTER

Hey Tomk sorry i take a while to reply…here in toronto we haev school from 8-4ish soit may take a while to reply…lol anyways ( thanks for the help ) i jus came home and here i the log file created by Hijackthis.

Download ComboFix from one of these locations:

* IMPORTANT !!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop


  • Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools. If you have difficulty properly disabling your protective programs, refer to this link –> http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic114351.html

  • Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.

  • As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.

  • Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.

**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.

Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:

Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware.

When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply.


Notes:

1. Do not mouse-click Combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.
2. Do not "re-run" Combofix. If you have a problem, reply back for further instructions.
3. ComboFix may reset a number of Internet Explorer's settings, including making I-E the default browser.
4. Combofix prevents autorun of ALL CD, floppy and USB devices to assist with malware removal & increase security. If this is an issue or makes it difficult for you – please tell your helper.
5. CF disconnects your machine from the internet. The connection is automatically restored before CF completes its run. If CF runs into difficulty and terminates prematurely, the connection can be manually restored by restarting your machine.

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
Download - ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.

(If you use FireFox or the Opera browser
To keep saved passwords, click No at the prompt.)

It's normal after running ATF cleaner that the PC will be slower to boot the first time or two.

Then

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop.

  • Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
  • At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select Perform quick scan, then click Scan.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location and post the results.
  • Note: If you receive a notice that some of the items couldn't be removed, that they have been added to the delete on reboot list, please reboot (shut down your computer then restart it).
Also "copy/paste" a new HijackThis log file into this thread.

I'm glad it is running better but you are not clean yet. Something is trying to re-infect you.

Also, uTorrent now shows in your log. It didn't before. Haven't seen that before. :unsure:

You have uTorrent, a P2P/file sharing programs installed on your computer. P2P applications like it are the largest source of malware we see. You'll be doing yourself a favor by removing it.

I would recommend that you uninstall uTorrent, however that choice is up to you. If you choose to remove these programs, you can do so via Control Panel >> Add or Remove Programs.

If you wish to keep it, please do not use it until your computer is cleaned.

Disable resident protections (Antivirus…); you'll re-enable them after the scan

Download Lop S&D < here

Double-click Lop S&D.exe
Choose the language, then choose Option 1 (Search)
Wait till the end of the scan
Post the log which is created: (%SystemDrive%\lopR.txt)

Hey tom, i got utorrent not too long ago…i use it for getting backups of my cd/dvd's i havent use it yet…so..il choose to keep it if you dont mind
my antivirus..whene ver i reboot it turns on automatically ( so when im using combfix, when it reboots autoprotect enables itself)

Hey, tom i just scanned for malware using Spybot search and destroy…i turns out theres one registry key for virtumonde…i chose to fix..and it suposedly isnt there anymore :) Im sacnning again this time with interent plugged in…( network ) and well see if it picks up anything…i post back here later with results!

Hey tom, i got utorrent not too long ago…i use it for getting backups of my cd/dvd's i havent use it yet…so..il choose to keep it if you dont mind

On this forum it is your choice. Some forums won't help you until you uninstall it. I just want you to be aware of the risk.

The curious thing is that it didn't show in your first ComboFix.txt report. But it did in the second. I've never seen that happen before. I still don't see the cause but let's try to kill your infection again.

Disable your protection programs as we did before.

COMBOFIX-Script

  • Please open Notepad (Start -> Run -> type notepad in the Open field -> OK) and copy and paste the text present inside the code box below:

  • Referring to the screenshot above, drag CFScript.txt into ComboFix.exe.
  • ComboFix will now run a scan on your system. It may reboot your system when it finishes. This is normal.
  • When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Copy and paste the contents of the log in your next reply.
CAUTION: Do not mouse-click ComboFix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

Please go to Kaspersky website and perform an online antivirus scan.

  • Read through the requirements and privacy statement and click on Accept button.
  • It will start downloading and installing the scanner and virus definitions. You will be prompted to install an application from Kaspersky. Click Run.
  • When the downloads have finished, click on Settings.
  • Make sure these boxes are checked (ticked). If they are not, please tick them and click on the Save button:
    • Spyware, Adware, Dialers, and other potentially dangerous programs
      Archives
      Mail databases
  • Click on My Computer under Scan.
  • Once the scan is complete, it will display the results. Click on View Scan Report.
  • You will see a list of infected items there. Click on Save Report As….
  • Save this report to a convenient place. Change the Files of type to Text file (.txt) before clicking on the Save button.
  • Please post this log in your next reply.

In your next reply please provide:
  • ComboFix.txt
  • Kaspersky report
  • New HijackThis log taken after everything else completed

Kaspersky takes a couple hours to run. If you haven't started it yet. Do this first.

Be sure that you have disabled Spybot TeaTimer first!

COMBOFIX-Script

  • Please open Notepad (Start -> Run -> type notepad in the Open field -> OK) and copy and paste the text present inside the code box below:

  • Very Important! Temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any anti-malware real-time protection before following the steps below. They can interfere with ComboFix or remove some of its embedded files which may cause "unpredictable results".
  • Referring to the screenshot above, drag CFScript.txt into ComboFix.exe.
  • ComboFix will now run a scan on your system. It may reboot your system when it finishes. This is normal.
  • When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Copy and paste the contents of the log in your next reply.
CAUTION: Do not mouse-click ComboFix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

hey uhm i started kaspersky scan..a while ago…and its done only 3 percent….is there another substitute i can do this? like use something else? cuz at the speed its going….i have a feeling it will most likely be done by tomarrow…which i dont want it to be cuz i need to fix this comp as fast as i can lol ( tests,exams, projects comming up ). i think i have kaspersky lieing around somewhere but i was too lazy to try and find it…can i just cancel this scan and install the kaspersky i have?
