I got this problem about half a month ago, I haven't had the time to deal with it, but the symptoms went like this.
One day my internet began to slow down tremendously. Then I noticed that from firefox, when I tried to go to google by firefox default url home page setting (http://www.google.ca/firefox?client=firefox-a&rls;=org.mozilla:en-US:official), it would return a "redirect loop". I thought something was fishy, because next thing my internet began to slow down by a lot. Some pages would never load by firefox, which would often return downright "unable to connect" errors, while IE would work fine (irony). When I try to connect those said pages through a local proxy hosted on a debian server in my house, it works fine, which suprises me.
Soon my brother and my mother on each of their own respective computers began experiencing the same symptoms. I deduced that it was some sort of malware that may have spread from computer to computer on a network, and so I isolated each computer and reformatted them, only to find the same troubles. Having thought of linux to be invincible, I reformatted my mother's computer to ubuntu, where she still runs into the same problems. I've tried running anti-malware bytes antimalware on all computers a few times, even in safe mode, only to find the problem reoccuring to each computer. This is very frustrating as I can't imagine something would be able to spread across a local network. I'll be sure to give my brother hell when this is all blown over..if it ever does.
Very recently I ran anti-malware a couple of times in hopes of maybe wiping this thing off the face of my pc. I also followed a guide where I was instructed to remove certain .bat/.com/.inf files from my root directory of C:\.

I also notice many advertisements across several pages (reddit.com/purepwnage) for me are replaced by viagra adverts which were previously not there. My computer as of late has also been running unstably, often freezing so bad that the taskmanager cannot even respond - though this may be unrelated as I have been experimenting with overclocking.
All help is much appreciated as I'm beginning to lose much of little sleep I have and hair over this. Thanks so much!
