[Closed] help for a loud computer

Hello My computer when restarted runs great. Then the fan or something inside it gets loud while I'm using it. I have to keep restarting it for the loud fan to slow down. I followed the instructions and here is my log. Hi and welcome back to the forums here at WTT.

There isn't much we can do here for a loud fan. MBAM found and cleaned MyWebSearch, which is pretty harmless. If you think you are infected then post a HijackThis log. But for your noise issue you will have to open and repair that yourself or bring it to a qualified tech. if you're not comfortable doing those kinds of things.

  • Save HJTInstall.exe to your desktop.
  • Doubleclick on the HJTInstall.exe icon on your desktop.
  • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis .
  • Click on Install.
  • It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
  • Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis.
  • Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
  • Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
  • Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
  • DO NOT have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

  • Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools.   • Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.

  • As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal.   • Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.

1.Do not mouse-click Combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.
2. ComboFix may reset a number of Internet Explorer's settings, including making I-E the default browser.
3. Combofix prevents autorun of ALL CD, floppy and USB devices to assist with malware removal & increase security. If this is an issue or makes it difficult for you – please tell your helper.
4. CF disconnects your machine from the internet. The connection is automatically restored before CF completes its run. If CF runs into difficulty and terminates prematurely, the connection can be manually restored by restarting your machine.

Run HijackThis. (Vista users, please right click on HijackThis.exe and select "Run as an Administrator")
Click Do a System Scan Only. Put a Check in the box on the left side on these:

cookies, cache, ect…
Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
  • Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
  • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
  • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  • Copy and Paste the entire report in your next reply along with a Hijackthis log.

Thanks for your help. Was my computer infected? Is that why it kept freezing and getting loud like it was working overtime? Also, a box keeps popping up that says "sonic update manager" and it won't go away when I click cancel.
Also, a box has always popped up that says nview desktop manager has detected that the application (whatever the app is that the prob is) is not responding. When that happens my computer stops working fast and it slows down alot. What should I do about these two things?

Yes, a couple of items were in there…


Is that why it kept freezing and getting loud like it was working overtime?

Could cause freezing and poor performance, but don't think it would make fans work overtime. That's heat related, or just a noisy fan. Is it still noisy?


Also, a box keeps popping up that says "sonic update manager" and it won't go away when I click cancel.

Do you have any Sonic software installed? I'm not seeing it. It sounds like it's trying to update itself.


Also, a box has always popped up that says nview desktop manager has detected that the application (whatever the app is that the prob is) is not responding. When that happens my computer stops working fast and it slows down alot.

That has to do with your NVidia video card drivers/software. You may need to re-install the software, or we may be able to stop the message by deleting the startup entry.


What should I do about these two things?

I'll give you a list of items that can be removed from startup that may or may not solve one or both of these issues. Either way, it will probably improve performance. Give me a bit and I'll get back to you with the uneeded items.
