Hi Deathtomalware :)
My name is revel and I will be working with you to resolve the issues you're experiencing.
As I am still in training, all of my instructions must be checked by one of our malware experts before they are given to you. Thus, there may be some delay in responding.

I know that you would like your computer working as quickly as possible and I will work hard to see that happen.

I'd be grateful if you would note the following:
  • The fixes are specific to your machine and should only be used for the issues on this machine.
  • Please continue to review my answers until I tell you that your machine is clean. Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear.
  • If you don't understand the instructions, please stop and ask for clarification before proceeding.
  • Continue to reply to this topic; do not start another.

I will be back as soon as possible with instructions.
Hi deathtomalware,

Your present log indicates that you have two antivirus programs actively running. Having an antivirus is essential but running two can cause conflicts and hinder system performance. I recommend that you uninstall either Avira or Symantec though the choice of which is up to you. However, if you have a paid subscription for Symantec you may consider using it until your subscription expires.

To uninstall either antivirus program, please use Add/Remove Programs in your Control Panel and then reboot your machine.
If you have any difficulties removing your antivirus, please indicate in your next reply.

Next, you are running HijackThis from an unsafe location.

  • Please download and install the newest version of HiJackThis
    • Download HiJackThis from TrendMicro >> HERE <<
    • Once downloaded, double-click the HJTInstall.exe to begin the installation. Install using the defaults provided.
    • Once installed, run HiJackThis > "Do a system scan and save a logfile." Save the log file to your desktop.
  • Provide me with an Uninstall List
    • Open HijackThis and click on the Open the Misc Tools section button
    • Click on the Open Uninstall Manager button
    • Click the Save List button.
    • Save the file to your desktop or other convenient location.
    • Close HijackThis

In your next post, please provide:
(1) HijackThis log
(2) Uninstall List
Hi Deathtomalware
I'm glad that you resolved the issue you were having. The log that you posted does show signs of infection. If you would like my assistance in cleaning your system, then please follow the first set of instructions I've posted. Otherwise, I highly recommend that you disable/uninstall one of your active antivirus, update your definitions, and perform a full system scan as soon as possible.

Regards,
revel
