Hi Everyone,

Today, everytime I open anything on my computer, whether it be a file or software, I keep getting this pop-up that blocks me from continuing. The pop-up says the following:

For example when i open Firefox
The application or DLL c:\WINDOWS\system32\gjoyro.dll is not a valid windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette.
and
he application or DLL c:\WINDOWS\system32\sohlgd.dll is not a valid windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette.

I am an amateur when it comes to computers, and have read several forums that suggested i
run SFC /SCANNOW
I have attempted to do so with no result. I did not get any notification that it had completed of if everything was still intact.

I have also ran Spybot, Telus Security, and PC tools antivirus and no viruses are found.

Any ideas on how to resolve this?

Thanks.

Hello

Before we begin, you should save these instructions in Notepad to your desktop, or print them, for easy reference. Much of our fix will be done in Safe mode, and you will be unable to access this thread at that time. If you have questions at any point, or are unsure of the instructions, feel free to post here and ask for clarification before proceeding.

Download SDFix and save it to your Desktop.

Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to %systemdrive%
(Drive that contains the Windows Directory, typically C:\SDFix)

Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
  • Restart your computer
  • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, the Advanced Options Menu should appear;
  • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press Enter.
  • Choose your usual account.
  • Open the extracted SDFix folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
  • Type Y to begin the cleanup process.
  • It will remove any Trojan Services and Registry Entries that it finds then prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
  • Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
  • When the PC restarts the Fixtool will run again and complete the removal process then display Finished, press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
  • Once the desktop icons load the SDFix report will open on screen and also save into the SDFix folder as Report.txt
(Report.txt will also be copied to Clipboard ready for posting back on the forum).
  • Finally paste the contents of the Report.txt back on the forum.

Disable resident protections (Antivirus…); you'll re-enable them after the scan

Download Lop S&D < here

Double-click Lop S&D.exe
Choose the language, then choose Option 1 (Search)
Wait till the end of the scan
Post the log which is created: (%SystemDrive%\lopR.txt)
I followed the instructions and ran 'runthisbat' it ran (in safe mode) for 8 hours with out completing. It never went past the cmd of checking registry. During the process I got the following two Bad Images constantly DLL C:\windows\system32\gjroyro.dll and DLL C:\windows\system32\sohold.dll now that I have rebooted my computer to add a comment to you I have SD fix running in the background Finishing malware check (which it obviously never finished) I do not have my task bar and had to run firefox through the windows task manager to send you this. An suggestions or was I just to quick to turn off SDfix in Safe mode. It seemed to me that it was unlikely it woud take that long for the program to work. thanks in advance, Charonne
I actually tired that well i was waiting for a response Lop S&d is running in the background with a please wait…. it has been like that for about 20 minutes
I went into safe mode. It seems like it will not process properly without me clicking OK when there is a new screen for Bad image. This would obviously take some time to continue the process. I thought i would check with you first to see if i should start with the 1st step first. or if there was a way i would not have to click okay each time. it would process further I got in to the B's when running the LOPSD
Not sure why that is, lets try this

Download ComboFix from one of these locations:

Link 1
Link 2
Link 3

* IMPORTANT !!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop

  • Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools

  • Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.

  • As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.

  • Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.

**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.

Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:

[external image: Posted Image]

Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware.

When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply.
This seems to have taken away the problem which is great. Thank you very much! On another note related I have read that if you use multiple anti virus and spyware softwares they can conflict with each other. Currently I have installed Telus antivirus-this is related to my internet subscription] Spybot Pc tools antivirus avg free 8.0 Do you have any suggestions on ones to drop or if they are okay on the same system? PS-with the log I am not sure if I deleted all the changes. Spybot prompted me that there was a change and I believe I denied some of them before realizing what was going on. Thank you again so much thats the last of the downloads my son can have on my system. time for his on pc

Nasty infection you had :)

No need to attach the logs unless I ask you to

1. Close any open browsers.

2. Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

3. Open notepad and copy/paste the text in the quotebox below into it:

File::
C:\WINDOWS\system32\Drivers\Mtb31.sys

Save this as CFScript.txt, in the same location as ComboFix.exe

Refering to the picture above, drag CFScript into ComboFix.exe

When finished, it shall produce a log for you at C:\ComboFix.txt which I will require in your next reply.
