Deleted all suspect MP3 files and Visualcontext
PC has been running normally, hence ran combofix /u.
Ran a restore point manually (this set also to automatic on my PC) - can an old restore point fix a virus / malware. I have never seen it being sugested in forums?
Read Computer Safe tuorial - 1) will install spyblaster as recommended 2) Advises to avoid Warez sites - I presume this means one should stay away from Limewire?
Many thanks for your assistance
I think your doing a wonderful job.

If you mean "Can using an infected Restore Point reinfect my PC", then the answer is Yup! System Restore doesn't differentiate between legitimate and malicious files when it runs, it simply backs up what it is programmed to back up and you get what you're given when you restore using that point. While infected RPs aren't a risk in their dormant state, using one will start your troubles all over again.
I presume this means one should stay away from Limewire?
There are three problems with P2P programs:
1) You cannot always be sure that the program itself won't come bundled with slime.
2) You can't be sure that the files you download are clean, or even what they claim to be.
3) "Accidentally" downloading copyrighted files can get you into trouble.
I'll leave it to you to decide where you stand on the issue.
Hi,
Regarding my previous question "Can an old restore point fix a virus / malware."
Your PC is now in a known good state and you run a restore point. If at a future date you then contract another adware / virus; could restoring back to the known good restore point fix the problem you have with this new virus / malware?
Thanks
Ju .
The first port of call with an infection that won't cure with your scanners is System Restore. You can't always be certain when an infection actually set up home on your system as it may be programmed to lay low for a while, so you may find that the point(s) you try were already infected, but the worst that you will achieve is nothing - and at no cost, it's worth a dabble.
