I use Kaspersky Antivirus, which is pretty good. Something has gotten past, and Kaspersky keeps blocking a file in the temp directory from running. I assume this is a newly created file since it is a different name every time.

This system is Windows XP, running under Parallels on a Mac. This system also has been run using VMWare Fusion on a Mac, as well as Apple BootCamp.

I ran ERUNT, and did the Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, which found two other things. I have that log file saved.

I'm listing two logs here. First will be the Hijack This log, then I'll past the Malwarebytes log.

Thanks in advance.

hi LinuxGuruGamer,

clean out your temps;

Click Start>Run then type %temp%
Hit OK. Delete all the files you can.

click Start>Run then type %windir%\temp
hit ok. delete all the files you can

Empty your Temp folders. Go to Start > Run and type:cleanmgr. Windows will scan. When done check these 3 and press *ok* to remove:

Temporary Files
Temporary Internet Files
Recycle Bin

to do it much easier get atf cleaner:
http://www.atribune.org/index.php?option=c…5&Itemid=25

heres a good way to get malware: XPKey.exe
Thanks I've done the cleaning, keeping my fingers crossed. Generally I would get 2 or 3 messages a day, so I'm not declaring victory until tomorrow. Whatever happens, I'll post a final followup. I downloaded and ran the program you suggested. After that, I then ran the cleanmgr program, it showed that there was a lot in at least one of the temp directories, so I used it to clean those directories. One questions: 1. Was the problem just left over files, or was something actually running out of the temp directories. ? Thanks again. JBB
No luck. I still have the problem. Kaspersky blocked it from running, but something is cresting these files in the tmp directory. What next? Thanks JBB
hi,

what does this mean:

This system is Windows XP, running under Parallels on a Mac

your running xp in a virtual environment on a Mac machine?

what extension do the files have that Kaspersky is finding? .exe, .dll etc.
Yes, XP SP3 on a Mac under Parallels. Boot Camp is installed. The file suffixes are .tmp Here is one line from the log, they are all like it except that the file name changes, but they all end in .tmp: detected: Trojan program Trojan-Spy.HTML.Fraud.gen (modification) File: C:\DOCUME~1\jbb\LOCALS~1\Temp\batECAC.tmp
hi LinuxGuruGamer,

a temp is one place malware can download to and install itself. but cleaning them out should take care of the problem. Since you can get to the files why not try uploading a few of them to virus total so they can get checked out.
browse to the dir on your machine and click the send button:

http://www.virustotal.com/

you can copy/paste the results back here if anything is found.
