PC Specs:
Windows XP SP3
Intel Pentium 4 3.0 Ghz
512mb of Ram
ATI Radeon X300

After using the Self-Help, most of my problems were fixed. I'm still unsure about the conditions of my computer and would appreciate someone checking it over for me.
Thanks in advance

Download ComboFix from Here or Here to your Desktop.

In the event you already have Combofix, this is a new version that I need you to download.
It must be saved directly to your desktop.

Make sure you are disconnected from the net

1. Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

  • Temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any anti-malware real-time protection before performing a scan.
  • Click on this link to see a list of programs that should be disabled. The list is not all inclusive. If yours is not listed and you don't know how to disable it, please ask.
  • Remember to re enable the protection again afterwards before connecting to the net

2. Close any open browsers and make sure you are disconnected from the net. Unplug the cable if need be before running combofix.
  • IF you have not already done so Combofix will disconnect your machine from the Internet when it starts.
  • If there is no internet connection when Combofix has completely finished then restart your computer to restore back the connections.

3. Now double click on combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
When finished, it will produce a report for you.
Please post the "C:\ComboFix.txt" along with a new HijackThis log for further review

Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall or freeze.
Give it atleast 20-30 minutes to finish if needed.
Thx again for all the help (:

Description:
A Trojan-Backdoor is a malicious program with backdoor functionality that gives an attacker unauthorized access to a system. After gaining access to the computer, the attacker can then control it remotely without the knowledge or consent of the user. This severely compromises the security and privacy of the system as any changes can be made to the machine so it can be in control of the attacker and may be used for malicious purposes.

Whether you wish to continue with cleaning or not, you should be aware that you may have been infected by a backdoor trojan. This type of program has the ability to steal passwords and other information from your system. If you are using your computer for sensitive purposes such as internet banking then I recommend you take the following steps immediately:
  • Use another, uninfected computer to change all your internet passwords, especially ones with financial implications such as banks, paypal, ebay, etc. You should also change the passwords for any other site you use.
  • Call your bank(s), credit card company or any other institution which may be affected and advise them that your login/password or credit card information may have been stolen and ask what steps to take with regard to your account.
  • Consider what other private information could possibly have been taken from your computer and take appropriate steps
This infection can almost certainly be cleaned, but as the malware could be configured to run any program a remote attacker requires, it will be impossible to be 100% sure that the machine is clean, if this is unacceptable to you then you should consider reformatting the system partition and reinstalling Windows as this is the only 100% sure answer.

Please post back to let me know how you wish to proceed.
After dragging the Notepad file into ComboFix, it updated and ran. My previous post was prior to me allowing the program to update and run. I wasn't aware that it was run again and had AVG running. There were no major problems while ComboFix was running but a couple of pop ups from AVG appeared asking me if i wanted to delete some threats. I pressed 'Ignore' all of those pop ups in case it would interfere with ComboFix. My computer restarted and ComboFix gave me another lag. I ran HiJackThis again and got a log. Your previous post warned me of a threat but I can't seem to find it in the lastest log.

I need to make sure you read this.

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [algchk.exe] C:\WINDOWS\system32\algchk.exe

I missed these with the first fix.

Copy/paste the text in the Codebox below into notepad:

Here's how to do that:
Click Start > Run type Notepad click OK.
This will open an empty notepad file:

Take your mouse, and place your cursor at the beginning of the text in the box below, then click and hold the left mouse button, while pulling your mouse over the text. This should highlight the text. Now release the left mouse button. Now, with the cursor over the highlighted text, right click the mouse for options, and select 'copy'. Now over the empty Notepad box, right click your mouse again, and select 'paste' and you will have copied and pasted the text.

File::
C:\WINDOWS\system32\?ymantec\w?nlogon.exe

Registry::
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
"Bfckcujd"=-
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows nt\currentversion\windows]
"AppInit_DLLs"=""

Save this file to your desktop, Save this as "CFScript"

Here's how to do that:
1.Click File;
2.Click Save As… Change the directory to your desktop;
3.Change the Save as type to "All Files";
4.Type in the file name: CFScript
5.Click Save …

[external image: Posted Image]

Drag CFScript.txt into ComboFix.exe

Then post the results log and a new HijackThis log.

Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.
I accidentally saved the file as a text and dragged in into ComboFix. I realized what I did and downloaded a new ComboFix and put in the CFScript file as "All file". After dragging the the correct file, a popup asking me to if i wanted to run came up. I clicked run and a progress bar came up. When completed, the progressbar disappeared and nothing happened. I double clicked ComboFix and the same thing happened. A popup asking me to run came up. I clicked run and a progressbar came up again, finished, and disappeared without ComboFix doing its usually thing.
I double clicked ComboFix but after the progressbar finishes, the scan doesn't start. By new, do you mean redownload ComboFix and run the scan?
  • Click START then RUN
  • Now type Combofix /u in the runbox and click OK. Note the space between the X and the U, it needs to be there.

    Now download again.

I followed the directions only to end up with the same results. Double click ComboFix, windows box comes up, click run, progressbar shows up, finishes and disappears without ComboFix scanning.
