Hi and thank you in advance for your lifesaving services.
I am another unfortunate who came across the vista antivirus 2008. I didn't pay and download it though. Nevertheless, I was bombarded with constant pop-ups saying I was having system errors. There were symbols in the bottom right of my screen (where my Mcafee symbol and gmail notifier symbols among others are located). These symbols were: 1) a yellow triange and 2) a red circle with an X in it. Clicking on either would immediately open up a system run of the vista antivirus 2008 and then it would ask me if i wanted to download something or other to correct the malware on my comp. These pop ups said that I could potentially have illegal software or that people could have access to passwords. I know it was all fake but no matter what I tried I could not get rid of these pop ups. I downloaded and ran Malwarebytes and it didnt get rid of it, though it did find many trojans and such which i am posititve were related to what was happining. Finally, I went into my windows task manager and actually went into PROCESSES and closed odd looking names. This actually got rid of the popups. Now, I am uncertain if my comp is still infected but is not visible to me anymore…Therefore.. I was hoping for some help. I am posting my latest HijackThis log and I just ran the Malwarebytes again and will post that log as well.. If you could please look at it and see if there is anything I should be concerned about, I would really appreciate it. I just want to be safe.

Thanks

Hi

If you already have Combofix, please delete this copy and download it again as it's being updated regularly.

Please visit this webpage for download links, and instructions for running the tool:

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix

Please ensure you read this guide carefully and install the Recovery Console first.

The Windows Recovery Console will allow you to boot up into a special recovery (repair) mode. This allows us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware. It is a simple procedure that will only take a few moments of your time.

Once Recovery Console is installed, you should see a blue screen prompt like the one below:

[external image: Posted Image]

Click Yes to allow Combofix to continue scanning for malware.

When done, a log will be produced. Please post that log and a new HijackThis log in your next reply.

1.Do not mouse-click Combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.
2. ComboFix may reset a number of Internet Explorer's settings, including making I-E the default browser.
3. Combofix prevents autorun of ALL CD, floppy and USB devices to assist with malware removal & increase security. If this is an issue or makes it difficult for you – please tell your helper.
4. CF disconnects your machine from the internet. The connection is automatically restored before CF completes its run. If CF runs into difficulty and terminates prematurely, the connection can be manually restored by restarting your machine.
