TOMT
Hi Bob4, righto… I have removed Limewire! Is there any other programs i,m running that I shouldn't or don't need??
I removed the old Combo and loaded a new one as you said.
Ran this as your instructions. Errors that came up during the fix were: Bit Defender serious error and Windows serious error, but i just let the machine run ….. Have done a new HJT log for you also.
Did not have to reboot after Combo finished to get back online. BUT when I clicked my icons on the desktop they came up with" Windows does not recognize this WWW" so clicked the Firefox and made that default browser, then all sweet.
PC is running fast, WWW pages loading fast. Email is sending/receiving.

OK things look much better. Just a little more to do.

Search for and remove
Now I want you to search for and delete the following folders and all it's contents if present. If you need help finding them.
Click start /search/ all files and folders/ look for More advanced options. once in there select the first 3 boxes.
Please just remove the files/folders I listed in BOLD
C:\Program Files\fvyocbg
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\uzulcbap

Adobe Acrobat Reader update
You are using an older vulnerable version of Adobe Acrobat Reader {7.0}. Please go here to download Adobe Acrobat Reader 8…
When you have finished installing the Acrobat Reader, please go to Add/Remove Programs and verify that there are no versions listed other than Acrobat Reader 8. If you find older versions, remove them.
When finished, reboot your computer.

This is going to take care of part of Symantec /Nortons that wasn't cleaned up very well when you uninstalled it.
Open Notepad, copy and paste the following text (in bold) into the new Notepad window.
Save it to your Desktop, as type "all files", as fixservice.bat
It should now look like this icon now.
[external image: Posted Image]
Now double click this file, won't see much happen.
A quick flash is about all.
Then you may delete the file we just made.

Bit Defender had a bit of an issue with combo fix. It has been taken care of now by the developer of the tool.
I am a bit concerned that there might be issues down the road. So here's what I would like you to do to be sure it's OK.
Choice 1.
Uninstall and re download and reinstall Bit defender if your going to keep it.
http://www.bitdefender.com/site/Downloads
When you go to uninstall it there may be a choice to repair it.
If so just do that and your good to go.
Choice 2.
I will list 2 free anti Virus programs that you can down load and install if you decide not to keep Bit defender.
Never run 2 Anti virus Programs together.
Avast
Avira AntiVir Personal Edition Classic
Download and install one of these .
EDIT I have no preference to any of these anti virus programs. All 3 are good choices.
________________________________
As far as any other programs to get rid of that's up to you.
I do suggest once a month or so that you look in add/remove
programs and check to see nothing
has been installed that you didn't install your self.
Malware has a way of doing that.
I will have a few suggestions for security programs once we do these last few steps.

- A new HJT log
- How do things seem to be running.
TOMT
Hey Bob4, sorry bout delay, was waiting for your reply but got called into work for a double shift…
I have Managed to do all that you asked.
1- Deleted those 2 files
2- Updated Adobe, but the latest was version9. So I have Adobe9, no other versions found in Add/Remove after install.
3- fixservice.bat seemed successful, blip n it was gone.
4- Repaired Bit Defender 2009 and it did its own reinstall ( Kept to this seeing I was using it )
There is a vast improvement on the way the PC is running now
It seems to be as when I first bought it….. Shutdowns and boot times are so quick now too.
WWW only diff I notice there is waiting for FireFox to loadup, compared with Explorer. But I like this FFox.
I will try running different programs etc after I get some shuteye.
Cheers Bob4
Here is a fresh HJT log, and also the log from Bit Defender after the repair/fresh install.

I have Managed to do all that you asked.
1- Deleted those 2 files
2- Updated Adobe, but the latest was version9. So I have Adobe9, no other versions found in Add/Remove after install.
3- fixservice.bat seemed successful, blip n it was gone.
4- Repaired Bit Defender 2009 and it did its own reinstall ( Kept to this seeing I was using it )
There is a vast improvement on the way the PC is running now
WWW only diff I notice there is waiting for FireFox to loadup, compared with Explorer. But I like this FFox.
I will try running different programs etc after I get some shuteye.
Cheers Bob4
Here is a fresh HJT log, and also the log from Bit Defender after the repair/fresh install.

TOMT
Hi Bob4, booted PC this morning and all OK. Bit Defender did a deep scan and came up with 2 threats, as being the same as when this first started.
The Xpantvirus is still there, but it appears to be in the Restore archive?? as same with the Spy clean.
So cant these be removed? Or do I keep away from that restore point?
Also I turned on Windows update again as I had that off when we first started… sorry….. I remembered that it kept asking to update as it is now, but it says download complete, then 5 min later its asking again to download the same files again….
I went to the folder: C:\Documents and Settings\Tom\Application Data\SUPERAntiSpyware.com and deleted this? was that right? its still sitting in my recycle bin if not.
Cheers

The Xpantvirus is still there, but it appears to be in the Restore archive?? as same with the Spy clean.
So cant these be removed? Or do I keep away from that restore point?
Also I turned on Windows update again as I had that off when we first started… sorry….. I remembered that it kept asking to update as it is now, but it says download complete, then 5 min later its asking again to download the same files again….
I went to the folder: C:\Documents and Settings\Tom\Application Data\SUPERAntiSpyware.com and deleted this? was that right? its still sitting in my recycle bin if not.
Cheers

Hya TomT,
Sorry for the delay, kinda worked late myself.
Great news ! [external image: Posted Image]
Your log now appears to be clean.
Lets do a few things to tidy up.
What Bitdefender found is in restore points,
anything left in there is safe as long as you do not use system restore.
We are going to take care of in a second. They will be gone.

If you have Super Anti spyware installed you should move that folder back in place.
If you no longer want the program use add remove programs to uninstall it.
Then check to see if that folder is gone or not.
Some programs don't clean up well after themselves.
We need to do this again. My fault I forgot the quotation marks for multiple words.

Open Notepad, copy and paste the following text (in bold) into the new Notepad window.
Save it to your Desktop, as type "all files", as fixservice.bat
It should now look like this icon now.

Now double click this file, won't see much happen.
A quick flash is about all.
Then you may delete the file we just made.

Download and run the appropiate tool for you norton product as described by year..
Run the tool. This should get rid of Nortons and syamantec problems.

There shouldn't be all these instances of this thing running. As you can see there not running in every log.
You might try uninstalling that and see if it helps.

Hey Bob4. 1 thing you got me stumpt on is this command. you are saying "make sure to have no lines before
REGEDIT4" that is not in the code you want me to copy to notebook….
Open notepad up and copy everything exactly in the box below into it.
CODE
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\system\currentcontrolset\control\securityproviders]
"SecurityProviders"="msapsspc.dll, schannel.dll, digest.dll, msnsspc.dll"
make sure to have no lines before
REGEDIT4
and
One (1) space before the end.
Now click on save and save TO YOUR DESKTOP
as "File Name" fix.reg
Save as File type "all files" NOT TXT DOCUMENT
Once saved double click the file you just made and when asked to merge with the registry click yes.
Now delete that file.
bob4
I'm sorry TomT,
Should of read.
No lines before
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00.
TOMT
Hi Bob4, Have managed all that was asked.
Nortons appears to be gone. There were 3 folders in the add/remove so removed all 3.
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00. merge done.
Superanti Spyware removed.
Xtra help assistant removed.
Now Windows update situation. The file is Security Update for Microsoft XML Core Services 4.0 Service Pack2 (KB936181)
The update icon is still there, and still asks to update on bootup. Also in BitDefender i have had to turn off updates there too. I even went to Windows download center and downloaded updates from their site, thinking maybe?? but know its still asking…
Are there hidden files that should be removed that I,m missing???
PC seems to be running fine, bootup is fast, shutdown seems OK. Programs that i have used seem OK, BitDefender seems to make outlook run quite slow tho? would this be due to there spam software?
But yep all seems great at mo.I will wait for your next reply before dealing with the protection suggestions.
Cheers!!!

Cheers!!!

Try this for the windows update error
NOTE:
To copy/paste something to or from the cmd window is different than a normal copy paste:
(cntrl c and cntrl v do not work)
To copy something into a cmd window:
Referring to picture below.
After copying normally what we want paste into a cmd window.
Click on the little icon in the top right corner
choose edit /paste.
[external image: Posted Image]
1. Click Start -> Run, type cmd and click OK
2. Type/copy this
3. Next, type exit, and press Enter
4. Now, simply visit the official Microsoft KB93618 download link and manually download and install the update
5. Restart your computer and if all goes well, your KB936181 update issues should be history.
Let me know if this helps.

Hey Bob4, um tried that command but it came back with"" The system cannot find the file specified""
The issue with BitDefender is due to the same download , If I leave the windows update checked it also asks me to download the update.
Any ideas
Cheers

I went to BitDefender and rechecked the update icon there and it came up ok. So all done on that side.
PC seems to be running sweetaz!!! One thing that has been repaired that was an annoyance was my sound.. sometimes worked and sometimes didnt, or was crackly. now evrytime PC boots up I have good clear sound.
I have read the HJT log and noticed that ""Symantec "" still shows in a couple of places?? are certain files not removed after uninstall??
Just asking in case i have done this wrong??
Cheers for your time Bob4!
