[Closed] Laptop slowing down

On first booting my computer, Outlook and IE are very very slow opening and running the first time. They seem to work okay subsequently. I've run adaware and spybot.

I'm running Windows XP on a Dell Latitude laptop with 500 MB RAM. (There seems to be a lot of page switching in the performance indicator, but I'm not sure what performance indicators to check).
