Hi again, no problem about the explanation, better to much that to little :)

You do have some things in your log that HijackThis is not able to remove so please do this

Download Registrar Lite from here:
http://www.resplendence.com/download/reglite.exe

Put it in its own folder. You may want to keep this program. It is an excellent free, registry editor.

Copy and paste the follow text into the address bar, then hit 'Go':
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\URLSearchHooks

In the pane on the right are the values associated with that key.
We want to remove these two ->

{8952A998-1E7E-4716-B23D-3DBE03910972}_
{CFBFAE00-17A6-11D0-99CB-00C04FD64497}_

Notice the underscore at the end.

Right click on it, and select delete.
If you get a confirmation question, respond OK then close out the program.

After that do this, please do all the steps in the order they are listed
  • Have Hijack This fix all of the following by placing a check in the appropriate boxes and hitting fix checked. Make sure all browsers and all Windows Explorer windows are closed before fixing.

    R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/…//www.yahoo.com
    R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/customize/…//www.yahoo.com

    R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar,LinksFolderName =
    R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,SearchAssistant = about:blank

  • Optional
The following activeX controls will reinstall when (and if) you revisit that website, UNLESS you know they are from a safe source, check to remove.

The log looks clean now as far as I can tell.

I would suggest that you go to windows update and download and install all critical updates.

You also might want to delete your Temporary Internet Files and do a full virus scan at one or more of the free virus checkers that are in that link.

To reduce the risks of getting this type of problem again look at the links in my signature. At least read this one >> How Did I Get Infected In The First Place?
Cool! Thank you so much! Just a quick question: Do you recommend using Mozilla Firefox? Will it reduce the chances of getting this problem again?
Glad we could help :)

About Firefox, feel free to try it, many of the helpers here like it a lot but in the ends its users choice which browser they want to use, even if you switch you will have to stay current with updates for Internet Explorer as long as you have windows as operating system. As to if, it will reduce the risk of being reinfected… Yes, it will help against many hijackers since they often target IE but it will not help that much against viruses and worms.
