Hello giff,

I had reviewed the file you uploaded at SpyKiller and came to see where it had been causing problems. The system has a type of autorun infection, often passed from one computer to the next through shared drives, such as flash/thumb drives. As such the way to clean this type infection is to clean the computer AND the infected drives at the same time. If not, one reinfects the other back and forth. Assuming this is the case there, please locate any external drives that have been used on this computer recently and insert them now. This may cause a return of any infection, however we will be addressing that as we go along.

To keep them from interfering with the repairs, be sure to temporarily disable all antivirus/anti-spyware softwares while these steps are being completed. This can usually be done through right clicking the software's Taskbar icons, or accessing each software through Start - Programs.

Go here and download Flash_Disinfector.exe and save it to your desktop.

Doubleclick on Flash_Disinfector.exe to run it and follow the prompts. Wait until it has finished scanning and then exit the program.

The utility may ask you to insert your flash drive and/or other removable drives. If you did not already please do so and allow the utility to clean up those drives as well. Also you will need to leave any of these drives installed until all repairs are done here.

—————————————————

Download Symantec's NoScript to your desktop, then click noscript.exe. If the display shows Scripting is currently enabled, click the "Disable" button. This will block the malware from recreating while we remove it. Then click the OK button. We will need to make sure we reverse that once the infection removal is complete.

————————————————-

Download OTMoveIt2 by OldTimer to your desktop.

Then click OTMoveIt2.exe to run it (Vista users, please right click on OTMoveit2.exe and select "Run as an Administrator").

Copy the file path(s) below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C, or right-click and choose Copy):

Return to OTMoveIt2, right click in the "Paste List of Files/Folders to Move" window and select Paste. Then click the red MoveIt! button. A log of files and folders moved will be created in the c:\_OTMoveIt\MovedFiles folder, in the form of Date and Time (mmddyyyy_hhmmss.log). Please open this log in Notepad and post its contents in your next reply.

If a file or folder cannot be moved immediately you may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the move process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose "Yes".

———————————–

Next we need to use HijackThis, but first you have to move it to a permanent location so backups will be saved. Just create/select a permanent folder (not temp or desktop) and move the HijackThis.exe file there to click/run from that location. The current location it needs to be moved from is here:

C:\Documents and Settings\sue\My Documents\Unzipped\hijackthis\HijackThis.exe

Once you have done that, Close Internet Explorer and all running programs and run a scan in HijackThis. Place a check next to all of the following lines, then select “Fix Checked” and close HijackThis.

F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=Explorer.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\kernel.dll.vbs
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Aikelyu] C:\WINDOWS\system32\aikelyu.html

———————————-

Click noscript.exe again, then click the "Enable" button to re-enable Scripting (and press OK).

———————————–

Then Go here and run the Kaspersky online scan, and post back the log it creates.

To use the scan, accept the agreement and make sure you allow the ActiveX object to download and install (check the "yellow bar" at the top if needed to allow this). Once the Database download is completed, under Scan in the left colum click My Computer to start the scan. This may take a very long time, so allow the scan to run and perhaps find something else to do.

When the scan completes click View Scan Report. Then click Save Report As, and using the dropdown box save the report as "Files of Type: -> Text file (.txt)" to a location where you can find it again. Use any name you wish for the log.

Then locate that log and copy/paste those contents back here please.

————————————-

Then still making sure dss.exe is directly on your desktop, go to Start - Run, and copy/paste the following (then press OK):

"%userprofile%\desktop\dss.exe" /config

When the DSS Configuration display opens click the "Check All" button. Next, under Main Log, again uncheck the following:

System Restore
Temp Cleanup
Process Modules

Then under Extra Log, uncheck all the boxes.

Don't make any other changes at this time. Then click the "Scan!" button to start the scan.

Once the scan has completed a textbox will appear - copy/paste those contents back here please (main.txt). (The logs can also be found in the C:\Deckard\System Scanner folder)

Post that along with the OTMoveIt log and the Kaspersky log please.

The infection recreated from a new autoload entry, which is okay. We'll just include it in the next steps. But for those I need you to do the Kaspersky scan step, and post that log for review (the one you posted is just the Deckards log). This will show any as yet unseen files. You don't mention anything about external/USB drives, but be sure any are installed, and stay installed, now.
oops, I must be dreaming yesterdae to post the worng log haha.. heres the kaspersky log. thanks!! My external drive is okae so far bcos i had this prob few months back and i got it rectified alr. ——————————————————————————– KASPERSKY ONLINE SCANNER 7 REPORT Thursday, July 17, 2008 Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 (build 2600) Kaspersky Online Scanner 7 version: 7.0.25.0 Program database last update: Wednesday, July 16, 2008 22:25:38 Records in database: 960988 ——————————————————————————– Scan settings: Scan using the following database: extended Scan archives: yes Scan mail databases: yes Scan area - My Computer: C:\ D:\ E:\ Scan statistics: Files scanned: 90160 Threat name: 3 Infected objects: 10 Suspicious objects: 0 Duration of the scan: 04:07:14 File name / Threat name / Threats count C:\Documents and Settings\Gifford loh\Desktop\giff\thumb drive\installer\sdsetup.exe Infected: not-a-virus:Monitor.Win32.KeyLogger.dq 1 C:\Documents and Settings\Gifford loh\Desktop\giff\thumb drive\installer\Trojan_Guarder_Gld.exe Infected: Backdoor.Win32.Agent.jzr 1 C:\Documents and Settings\Gifford loh\Desktop\installer\sdsetup.exe Infected: not-a-virus:Monitor.Win32.KeyLogger.dq 1 C:\Documents and Settings\Gifford loh\Desktop\installer\Trojan_Guarder_Gld.exe Infected: Backdoor.Win32.Agent.jzr 1 C:\pooh.vbs Infected: Virus.VBS.AutoRun.g 1 C:\WINDOWS\Debug\pooh.vbs Infected: Virus.VBS.AutoRun.g 1 C:\WINDOWS\system32\kernel.dll.vbs Infected: Virus.VBS.AutoRun.g 1 C:\_OTMoveIt\MovedFiles\07152008_103156\pooh.vbs Infected: Virus.VBS.AutoRun.g 1 C:\_OTMoveIt\MovedFiles\07162008_211656\pooh.vbs Infected: Virus.VBS.AutoRun.g 1 C:\_OTMoveIt\MovedFiles\07172008_092843\pooh.vbs Infected: Virus.VBS.AutoRun.g 1 The selected area was scanned.
Hmmm - we need to stop and get the external drive issue clear here. How many USBB/external drives have been installed on this system recently? Understand your other system in a thread here has this same autorun infection, and will need to be checked again, so you all are passing it among your computers there. So up to you to get things cleaned. Do you have drives used on these systems while they have been infected, how many and where are they now? Don't install them in response to the questions, but once you let me know their status we will be doing some steps with them installed next. The Kaspersky log shows the autorun infection files, but also a rogue software installed (those Trojan_Guarder_Gld.exe files), and the installer for Spyware Doctor. However, the installer there is infection bundled. Where did this copy of Spyware Doctor come from? The logs also show an installed software, RegistryFix v5.5. If you do a web search using that name, you will see all of the downloads are from crack sites. Where did this software come from? If either of them, and any others installed there, are not from the vendor's own websites, you will need to uninstall all of those now. If not, and they are malware bundled, then infection will not be removed and we waste our time.
Hi, I didn't use any external drives on my desktop recently. I only use my external drive on my notebook and it is working good. I don't think the softwares installed are from the vendor site bcos i search using google and downloaded from one of the sites. I have deleted them already. thanks again, wad do i do next?

I only use my external drive on my notebook and it is working good.

That's the giff assessment, which has not cleaned infection from this system yet. Now we are working from the Jintan assessment. Plug in all external drives and run the Kaspersky scan again please, and post that log for review.

Good, and verifies the external drive recreating the malware. Before you fade away again for another few days, run and post back a new Deckards scan log, using the same steps you did in your last post of that. Be very sure to now leave all external drives in until I post that the infection is removed. Truly though giff, if you do not stay the course and do these repairs consistently success will be difficult to achieve.
sorry for the late post cos this is a shared computer as i normally use my notebook. heres the DSS log!!.
and i think my desktop is badly infected cos its running so slowly :(

– End of Deckard's System Scanner: finished at 2008-07-24 11:54:11 ————
Vundo-type infection is installed there now as well. This go round we'll address that, the file on the external drive and also I'll redo the steps so that "system32" is "Windows\system32" like it should have been the first time.

To keep them from interfering with the repairs, be sure to temporarily disable all antivirus/anti-spyware softwares while these steps are being completed. This can usually be done through right clicking the software's Taskbar icons, or accessing each software through Start - Programs.

Locate and click the Flash_Disinfector.exe again to run that with the external drive installed.

—————————————————

Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here or Here.

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.

* Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
* The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.
* The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
* Copy and Paste the entire report in your next reply. If it calls for a reboot to complete the repairs do not do that at this time.

————————————–

Click noscript.exe again. If the display shows Scripting is currently enabled, click the "Disable" button. This will block the malware from recreating while we remove it. Then click the OK button. We will need to make sure we reverse that once the infection removal is complete.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Aikelyu] C:\WINDOWS\system32\aikelyu.html

———————————-

Click noscript.exe again, then click the "Enable" button to re-enable Scripting (and press OK).

===================================

Reboot the computer.

Process Modules

Then under Extra Log, uncheck all the boxes.

Don't make any other changes at this time. Then click the "Scan!" button to start the scan.

Once the scan has completed a textbox will appear - copy/paste those contents back here please (main.txt). (The logs can also be found in the C:\Deckard\System Scanner folder)

Post that along with the Malwarebytes log, the OTMoveIt log and the Kaspersky log please.

You are part of a traveling show giif? Don't seem to come around this part of the internet very frequently. Although each time you add a different new infected flash drive it can recreate the entire infection, at the time you ran this Deckards scan only that one G drive bad file shows. The Flash Disinfector changes may have aided keeping the G drive infection from success. I am going to assume there are no more possibly infected drives you have not yet installed, yes? But right now things are looking pretty good there.

To keep them from interfering with the repairs, be sure to temporarily disable all antivirus/anti-spyware softwares while these steps are being completed. This can usually be done through right clicking the software's Taskbar icons, or accessing each software through Start - Programs.

Go to Start > Run and type

cmd

and OK. At the prompt type (or copy\paste) the below commands and hit "Enter" after each line

sc config IP6FW start= disabled
sc delete IP6FW

Type Exit to close.

—————————————–

Open OTMoveIt again.

Copy the file path(s) below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C, or right-click and choose Copy):

G:\pooh.vbs
C:\WINDOWS\system32\dcqpdl.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\mkhlaovk.dll
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\shared tools\msconfig\startupreg\Aikelyu
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\shared tools\msconfig\startupreg\MyWebSearch Email Plugin

Process Modules

Then under Extra Log, uncheck all the boxes.

Don't make any other changes at this time. Then click the "Scan!" button to start the scan.

Once the scan has completed a textbox will appear - copy/paste those contents back here please (main.txt). (The logs can also be found in the C:\Deckard\System Scanner folder)

Post that along with the OTMoveIt log and the Kaspersky log please.
sooo sorry. because my siblings use this computer often so i do the scans when they are not using it. I will post the logs soon k. thanks!!
