Alright, this looks like it'll easily become annoying for anyone who wants to help me, but I suppose it's worth a shot. :) (And please move this topic if you suspect viral or adware problems.) Yesterday I was trying to get some support .mkv files on my computer. I downloaded CCCP and VLC again, and for the first time, the Core Media Player. I decided to leave it alone and get some sleep. I wake up, try to go into a stickam.com chat room and find that my entire computer is acting slower than Pluto around the sun. I try to reboot, and nothing is going any faster. Frustrated, I cut the power off from the wall, and tried booting my computer. This time, it moved even slower, and I tried to run Spyware Doctor (it currently says it cannot connect to the Spyware Doctor engine), but that got 1% through my computer before seemingly freezing. I tried rebooting again, this time in safe mode, and it wouldn't even load. I tried again, same results, and again normally. Now it's still trying to load after about half an hour since the reboot. Desk top has appeared, icons on there, but things in my tray are still loading (many unsuccessfully). I am currently on my sister's laptop, and just trying to figure something out. x_x Thanks. System info from my personal memory since it won't come up on my computer: OS: Windows XP Home Edition. RAM: 1 Gig. I think the version is 2… don't recall the actual term. Let me know what other information you need and I'll try my best to get it for you. EDIT: System Properties: Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Version 2002 Service Pack 2 Computer's frozen, now, so I'll keep trying to get it working. And when I do boot my computer, it says, "Alert! Previous fan failure." EDIT 2: Been asking a friend for some help, and we realized my fan's not on. He says I need a new one, I say "Turn it back on!" I'm going to vaccum my computer and see if that helps any. EDIT 3 (And this one's the best!) : Okay, so as my friend was helping me, he suggested I try to go get a new fan. I went to remove my fan from my computer, and as I released the thing from my CPU box, a kid you not, a small brown gecko falls out and starts running about. I freak out, jump up and try to get away from the thing as fast as I can. It hides behind the CPU panel that I propped against my wall. I grab one of hose plastic covers for a bunch of blank DVDs or CDs, and try catching the thing. It runs into a pile o cloths, and then under my bed which naturally has a mess under it. Soooo… Yeah. My friend thinks the gecko pooped in the fan and shorted it or something, I'm still going to get a new fan today and see if that works. I'd still like some help if anyone thinks the problem is more than just my fan. Thanks! Final EDIT: I plugged the fan back in after I got home from work and it's back up and running. My computer is fine. :) Well, I suppose this thread can be closed now, unless you want everyone to laugh at my gecko-in-PC adventures. LOL

Thank you so much for posting.

IMHO this was by far the #1 post I think I have ever read. (and I read a bunch of forums)

It was on topic, you followed thru with keeping readers updated as to progress and what steps you were taking.
Oh and it had the best humor! I really did laugh!

I was very glad to read that you did get things working. As many techs will suggest it is a good idea to check & clean the insides of your computer about once a month.

Geckos  Was he selling car insurance? maybe he could have saved you a bunch of money. :)
