Hey guys, the other day I was browsing the web when my computer starting saying it was infected and I needed protection. The malware as I figured put the words "Virus Alert!" in my system tray, it changed my background, blocked me out of certain options like the display and said that the administrator locked display options, it got rid of most options on my start menu, it also will not let me access the internet (the page keeps refreshing to about: blank). I ran HijackThis and I will post the results. I hope you guys can help because I even tried to format my computer and it wouldn't read the disk. Thank you.

Welcome to the Forums.

The fixes we will use are specific to your problems and should only be used for this issue on this machine.

Please only use this topic to reply to. Do not start another thread.
If any other issues arise let me know.
The process is not instant. Please continue to review my answers until I tell you your machine is clear. Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear. So lets do this to the end!

  • Save and quit any work your doing before beginning the fix.
  • All hijackthis logs I ask for should be done in normal mode ( not safe mode)
  • These logs should be done last after you have followed my instructions in the previous post.

Please if you decide to seek help at another forum let us know. There is a shortage of helpers and tying 2 of us up is a waste of time.
If you have any questions about any advice given here please STOP and ask!

I see no signs of an anti virus program.. I suggest you get one in asap.
Spyware doctor is not an anti virus program.

As soon as you can get back on the internet with the machine in question you need to get one in place.
I will leave 2 links here.

If I ask you to download any thing and you can not do so on this machine. Use another machine and move the program with a usb flash drive or CD rom untill this machine works on the net again.

DISABLE Spyware Doctor
It is a good program, but … it may hinder the removal of some HijackThis entries. You can re-enable it after you're clean.
From within Spyware Doctor, click the "OnGuard" button on the left side.
Uncheck "Activate OnGuard".

RUN HJT

HJT
Run hijackthis and choose scan only and place a check by the following lines if present.
Close all other windows and browsers except HJT before clicking on Fix Checked

O3 - Toolbar: rtsplgob - {0939FF27-A717-4F67-96B5-555F9510F17F} - C:\WINDOWS\rtsplgob.dll
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [InstallProgram] C:\DOCUME~1\Dillsy\LOCALS~1\Temp\stdlan.exe

If you did not have a program such as spybot search and destroy change these settings for you have HJT fix these lines also.
If your not sure fixing them will not hurt anything.

O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Restrictions present
O7 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System, DisableRegedit=1

Close that.

I want you to try and download Firefox browser. We will try and use this instead of internet explorer seeings it is giving you trouble. The malware got to it I'm sure.

Download from this link
http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/?utm_…CFRKLxwod810JWw

Install it.
DURING the install it's going to ask you ti import settings and favorites from Inter net explorer. DO NOT do this.

Submit a file to Jotti
Please go here : http://virusscan.jotti.org/
On top of the page there is a field to add the filepath, copy and paste this filepath in there.
If theres is more than one file to scan, insert them 1 at a time.

C:\DOCUMENTS and Settings\Dillsy\LOCAL settings\Temp\stdlan.exe

Then hit Submit
The scan will take a while before the result comes up so please be patient.
Then copy the result and post it here in this thread.

If Jotti's service load is too high, you can use the following scanner instead:
http://www.virustotal.com/xhtml/index_en.html

DO NOT put this file on a flash drive and to another computer untill we know more about it. If you can't do it from this machine just wait a bit.

In your next reply I would like to see:
  • A new HJT log
  • The report from Jottis/Virus total
  • Let me know if firefox is working better than Internet explorer.
