Hi,
I am having troubles with kavo and tavo. My computer seems to be running at normal speed however when I startup I get warnings about kave. I had a look in my startup and both kavo and tavo were there. I scanned with McAfee which then said it deleted them, however kavo reapeared in the startup folder. I then ran hijackthis, here is my log...any help would be appreciated.

Please download ComboFix from Here or Here to your Desktop.

**Note: In the event you already have Combofix, this is a new version that I need you to download. It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop**

• Please, never rename Combofix unless instructed.
• Close any open browsers.
• Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

I have McAfee...however I tried to stop it from running at startup. This didnt seem to do anything except remove the 'M' symbol at the bottom of the sceen (Mcshield.exe is still running and using a lot of memory). How would I stop this? Thankyou for your help.

I do not run nor ever have run McAfee so I'm not familiar with the exact steps. But to stop the shield/Firewall you probably need to open the program and stop from within it. If you cannot disable the shield then proceed with combofix anyway, I'm more worried about the AV blocking the fix.

Download Flash_Disinfector from here and save it to your desktop.
Doubleclick on Flash_Disinfector.exe to run it and follow the prompts.
Wait until it has finished scanning and then exit the program.

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.

• Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  
• If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  
• Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
  
• The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  
• When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  
• Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  
• When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
  
• The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.

Hi Joel,

How's it running? If all is well you can remove combofix like so...

• Click START then RUN
• Now type Combofix /u in the runbox and click OK. Note the space between the X and the U, it needs to be there.

The above procedure will:

• Delete the following:
  • ComboFix and its associated files and folders.
  • VundoFix backups, if present
  • The C:\Deckard folder, if present
  • The C:_OtMoveIt folder, if present
• Reset the clock settings.
• Hide file extensions, if required.
• Hide System/Hidden files, if required.
• Reset System Restore.

Use Zoned Out -
Zoned Out will block access to malicious websites so you cannot be redirected to them from an infected site or email. Instructions for set up and use can be found at the website.

Update all of your Anti-Malware programs regularly - Make sure you update all the programs I have listed and the ones you are currently running regularly. Without regular updates you Will Not be protected when new malicious programs are released.
