Hi my computer is running clower than usual when I connect to the internet, at one point I had downloaded avast program and it kept popping up that the computer is sending out multiple emails. thats what it detected, but never was able to get rid of it, so I deleted that and dl AVG now that found a few more things and deleted it, but the same problem is still there I see my wireless constantly running sending out something? I need to figure out how to get rid of it, when the AVast popped up it showed what it seems like advertising email that it was sending out. won't stop, keeps going as soon as I connect my wireless connection… here's my HJT log, nothing in there, it seems like. help, thanks in advance Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.2 Scan saved at 7:42:52 PM, on 5/22/2008 Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v7.00 (7.00.6000.16640) Boot mode: Normal Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exe C:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXE C:\WINDOWS\System32\Atievxx.exe C:\PROGRA~1\AVG\AVG8\avgwdsvc.exe C:\PROGRA~1\AVG\AVG8\avgrsx.exe C:\Program Files\Winamp\winampa.exe C:\PROGRA~1\AVG\AVG8\avgtray.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\ctfmon.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis\HijackThis.exe R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing O2 - BHO: WormRadar.com IESiteBlocker.NavFilter - {3CA2F312-6F6E-4B53-A66E-4E65E497C8C0} - C:\Program Files\AVG\AVG8\avgssie.dll O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WinampAgent] "C:\Program Files\Winamp\winampa.exe" O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AVG8_TRAY] C:\PROGRA~1\AVG\AVG8\avgtray.exe O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [ctfmon.exe] C:\WINDOWS\system32\ctfmon.exe O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Jnskdfmf9eldfd] C:\DOCUME~1\Blitz\LOCALS~1\Temp\csrssc.exe O8 - Extra context menu item: E&xport to Microsoft Excel - res://C:\PROGRA~1\MICROS~3\Office12\EXCEL.EXE/3000 O9 - Extra button: AIM - {AC9E2541-2814-11d5-BC6D-00B0D0A1DE45} - C:\Program Files\AIM95\aim.exe O18 - Protocol: linkscanner - {F274614C-63F8-47D5-A4D1-FBDDE494F8D1} - C:\Program Files\AVG\AVG8\avgpp.dll O18 - Filter: AutorunsDisabled - (no CLSID) - (no file) O20 - AppInit_DLLs: avgrsstx.dll O23 - Service: ASP.NET State Service (aspnet_state) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\aspnet_state.exe (file missing) O23 - Service: AVG8 WatchDog (avg8wd) - AVG Technologies CZ, s.r.o. - C:\PROGRA~1\AVG\AVG8\avgwdsvc.exe O23 - Service: InstallDriver Table Manager (IDriverT) - Macrovision Corporation - C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\Driver\11\Intel 32\IDriverT.exe – End of file - 2108 bytes
hi Blitztt

first we will use hjt, then boot computer into safe mode and look for and delete some files.
i would copy/paste the safe mode part into notepad and save it so you can find and read it in safe mode.

hjt;
start HJT, click the "Scan" button. check the items below, close any open windows, then click "Fixed checked"

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Jnskdfmf9eldfd] C:\DOCUME~1\Blitz\LOCALS~1\Temp\csrssc.exe

to reach safe mode you would tap the f8 key during a computer restart and chose the first option from the list; safe mode
once at the safe mode desk top;
to help show all files do this:

FOr XP: on the desktop double click my computer,go to tools>folder options>view> then select "show hidden files and folders", then UNcheck "hide protected operating system files " also UNcheck "hide extensions for known file types" click apply to all folders, apply then ok

navigate here:
C:\DOCUME~1\Blitz\LOCALS~1\Temp\csrssc.exe

c:\documents and settings\user Blitz\local settings\Temp

delete the csrssc.exe inside the Temp folder

and do this also:

Click Start>Run then type %temp%
Hit OK. Delete all the files you can.
click Start>Run then type %windir%\temp
hit ok. delete all the files you can

Empty your Temp folders. Go to Start > Run and type:cleanmgr. Windows will scan. When done check these 3 and press *ok* to remove:

Temporary Files
Temporary Internet Files
Recycle Bin

while in safe mode run your antivirus.

reboot computer normally and do a online scan here:

ESET online scanner:

http://www.eset.com/onlinescan/

uses Internet Explorer only
check "YES" to accept terms
click start button
allow the ActiveX component to install
click the start button. the Scanner will update.
check both "Remove found threats" and "Scan unwanted applications"
click scan
when done you can find the scan log at:C:\Program Files\EsetOnlineScanner\log.txt

please copy/paste that log in next reply along with a new hjt log.
I don't know if that was suppose to help, but the computer is still sending out something because my wireless is still constantly going even when I am have not even open up a browser at all. assuming its still sending out mass advertising mail.. example of how much info, wireless shows I been connected for 30 min sent it sitting at 18,560,789 byte while the receive is sitting at 14,126,310 ever since I logged on the computer. and all I have done is open browser to get on this site to post this info. TIA for the help.

hi,

you where able to find and delete this?
C:\DOCUME~1\Blitz\LOCALS~1\Temp\csrssc.exe

lets see if sdfix can dig up anything:

Download SDFix and save it to your Desktop.
http://downloads.andymanchesta.com/RemovalTools/SDFix.exe

Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to %systemdrive%

(Drive that contains the Windows Directory, typically C:\SDFix)

Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :

* Restart your computer
* After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
* Instead of Windows loading as normal, the Advanced Options Menu should appear;
* Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press Enter.
* Choose your usual account.

* Open the extracted SDFix folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
* Type Y to begin the cleanup process.
* It will remove any Trojan Services and Registry Entries that it finds then prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
* Press any Key and it will restart the PC.

* When the PC restarts the Fixtool will run again and complete the removal process then display Finished, press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.

* Once the desktop icons load the SDFix report will open on screen and also save into the SDFix folder as Report.txt

(Report.txt will also be copied to Clipboard ready for posting back on the forum).

* Finally paste the contents of the Report.txt back on the forum with a new HijackThis log

Here is the SDFix log.

Here is the latest log of both, LMK what you think. thanks!!
The problem that I was having is now fixed. It's not using up my wireless to send out email anymore. But the hard drive seems to be constantly running still, slow to process anything that I want run, but faster than before. I think it might be the automatic windows update, seems like EVERYTIME I turn on the computer there's a update to DL and install when I'm shutting of the laptop. I shut off the auto update feature. and now it seem to be fine, computer is back to normal not as slow. should I keep the auto update off or is there another virus that uses the auto update to cover up its tracks ? Thanks for your help.
My hard drive was defrag about a month ago until this emil thing popped up, I'll probably defrag it again this week. anything else I should do?
hi Blitztt.

atf cleaner is good for keeping cookies, temps etc cleaned out, might free up a small amount of space.

http://majorgeeks.com/ATF_Cleaner_d4949.html

i see you have or had some p2p apps. dont have these running at start-up only when you are actually using them. you should know that there is plenty of malware distributed on these networks also. a reformat can do wonders.
hi, your welcome, if all is good; you can delete the sdfix folder and make new restore point: One of the features of Windows ME ,XP and Vista is the System Restore option, however if malware infects a computer it is possible that the malware could be backed up in the System Restore folder. Therefore, clearing the restore points is a good idea after malware is removed. To reset your restore points, please note that you will need to log into your computer with an account which has full administrator access. You will know if the account has administrator access because you will be able to see the System Restore tab. If the tab is missing, you are logged in under a limited account. (winXP) 1. Turn off System Restore. (deletes old possibly infected restore point) On the Desktop, right-click My Computer. Click Properties. Click the System Restore tab. Check Turn off System Restore. Click Apply, and then click OK. 2. Reboot. 3. Turn ON System Restore.(new restore points on a clean system) On the Desktop, right-click My Computer. Click Properties. Click the System Restore tab. UN-Check *Turn off System Restore*. Click Apply, and then click OK, then reboot My Top Ten The Short Version: 1) Keep your OS, browser and software up to date. 2) Know what you are installing to your computer. Do you trust the source? 3) Install, keep updated: antivirus and one or two anti-malware applications. 4) Dont click on adds/pop ups or offers from websites to install software. 5) Dont click on offers to "scan" your computer. 6) Dont click on links or install files you receive via E-Mail, IM, Chat Rooms or Social Sites. Do you trust the source? 7) Set up and use limited accounts rather than administrator accounts. 8) Consider using an alternate browser and E-mail client. 9) Install and understand the limitations of a third party software firewall. 10) If your habits include warez, cracks/keygens, P2P or visting adult sites you are much more likely to encounter malicious code. Do you trust the source? longer version in link below. happy safe surfing
