Access is denied. (5) and it wont uninstall, how could i fix this error? Any help would be great thanks. :D

Hi caboose221 The problem regarding the uninstall issue, could be because of remnants of an old Anti-virus program. What AV did you use before AVG ? (Norton?) Curious about why you are thinking / experiencing AVG isn't good when playing TF2? If its a resource problem, you aren't likely to solve it by installing Avast, which uses more resources than AVG. It's likely you have some remnants from either of the two or both.
Download Ccleaner from here: FileHippo.com
Install it. Remember to uncheck / untick the option to install Yahoo Tollbar if you don't want it.
Reboot into safe mode and follow this procedure:

1. Open Ccleaner
2. Click the blue cube named "registry"
3. Click "scan for issues" radio button at bottom.
4. A list will be populated, click "fix selected issues"
5. You will be prompted if you want to make a reg.backup, answer yes to this.
6. Click "Fix all selected issues"
7. Reboot and see if you can uninstall AVG via Ccleaner's uninstaller under the tool section.

I normally do not advocate the use of registry cleaner's as they are not needed. Unless in cases like this.
Report back if you're were met with success or not.

and I'm sick of AVG it annoys me i prefer Avast.

Just be sure to uninstall all AVG before installing Avast.
To properly uninstall any security programs, remember to close the application down in the tray by the watch.
Make sure its not running under processes, then proceed with the uninstall, reboot. That way you won't get the problem again.

I have not done that but i think i know how this happened.

I somehow used Process Explorer to block it from starting up because i had a virus that i couldnt delete and this Alert came up each time i opened a new window so i blocked it and Ive forgotten how i did it....

Does that help any?

UPDATE 14 March 6:37
I would love to say IT WORKED! but sadly it didn't, in fact i couldn't even get into Safe Mode when i started to log on it just restarted. -.-

Hi caboose221 You blocked AVG from starting up? If thats the case, have you been without AV since then? To allow AVG to start up, you can likely enable it via Msconfig. Goto start-->Run-->Type: msconfig Find the tab named "start", see if AVG is allowed to start on boot. To find the services belonging to AVG, you'll need to: Goto start-->Run--> Type: services.msc Find any services belonging to AVG, re-enable them again if necessary. But you should still use the Ccleaner, to remove any remnants from Trend-Micro and Norton/Symantec. For Norton, you may have to download their uninstall tool, but lets see if Ccleaner can handle it first. Regards Abydos

I don't use live chat programs, but thx for the offer :)

Could you answer if you have a anti-virus running at the moment, or is it disabled? Its important! If you aint got one running, you may already be infected...... :(

To remove Norton remnants, download Norton removal tool and run it. Find the tool which applies to your Norton version.

Norton Removal Tool

After you have run the removal tool, use Ccleaner once again, including the normal cleaner. Before using the normal cleaner in Ccleaner,
you should go to: Options-->Advanced--> Uncheck / untick "only delete files in windows TEMP folder older than 48 hours".
Uncheck / untick Cookies in Ccleaner's options for Internet Explorer and under applications for Firefox (if you use Firefox)

I somehow used Process Explorer to block it from starting up because i had a virus that i couldnt delete and this Alert came up each time i opened a new window so i blocked it and Ive forgotten how i did it....

What did you block here? (unsure)
