Not sure how I got this thing yet, but I sure have learned a lot since last night...Please help me get rid of it.

The only thing I have done is uninstall lime wire, geometry wars retro(microsoft, I think), Yahoo toolbar. from add/remove programs, not sure how they got on my pc anyway. Guess thats my reward for letting other people use my computer.

ps. I did install SUPERAntiSpyware, I think it was after I ran HJT.
hope I did this right...lol

Thank You,
Dutch70

ok, I dont think I am infected with that trojan anymore...lol, I seem to have a habit of jumping to conclusions, guess my first lesson is to quit doing that.
but I still think I have a lot of stuff going on here that needs fixed,

My pc is really slow with 2 GB of RAM compared to my mothers pc with 1` GB of RAM, she has XP and keeps all kinds of junk on the taskbar, seems vista takes a little more RAM but I have aero turned off, sidebar off, and I close everything I am not using on the taskbar. still slow, also I think mcupdate keeps trying to download/update all the time. Im sure that doesn't help matters any. and I really dont use it.

Other little quirps,
HP advisor says my antivirus is at risk and that internet security is off even though McAfee says I'm protected. and McAfee virtual technician(whatever that is) says it cant locate any mcafee products on my pc, I did pay for this, but cant seem to get any help from them. I just installed it on this pc after my trial period of Norton ran out as this pc is only about 3 months old, right along with my pc experience(short of surfing the web). So hope I did this right. feel free to give me all of these... :smack: you want...lol

Looks like you have 13 C:\Windows\system32\taskeng.exe running.
You can have a look here and see if any information there is helpful.

On other item I notice is that Norton's Live update is still running.
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ALUAlert] c:\Program Files\Symantec\LiveUpdate\ALuNotify.exe

When you uninstalled Nortons / Symantec, did you uninstall LiveUpdate?

Wow,...now I seem to have about 38 taskeng.exe running in task manager. When I tried to go to the task scheduler I recieved this message..."an error has occured for task reminders - Dave. Error message: The specified account name is not valid"... I did not uninstall symantec live update, I wasn't sure if I needed to, I suppose I need to do this now? nice to see that you are available now....Many Thanks

I can really tell a big difference in the pc speed, much faster, got a couple of flashes(?) when I first restarted it, but other than that nothing....currently have 9 taskeng.exe running. EDIT: make that 27 taskeng.exe it is still building, and I can't find anything from symantec live update, and as I stated above, I get the eroor message when I try to open task scheduler.
