well,i remembered something….the problems started when i installed mc afee firewall in my system while i had nod32 or panda i don't remember….i had to do a format to boot the pc again, and after the format(a technician did it) it went sloooowwww…..does that help???
Hi fordimodi

One could think it might. But it would be irresponsible of me not to heed the warning from AVG regarding a Rootkit. And it certainly wouldn't help your current situation if you are infected with a rootkit. So you / we need to be absolute sure we are working on a clean machine. So for now, wait till you get a clean bill from the malware team.

Be patient. Its frustrating waiting, but all the malware experts are volunteers and often the needs exceed the available malware experts.

Well, the avg rootkit finder found a hidden file under windows\system32\a02dlbkz.sys
shall i proceed cleaning(renaming) the file???avg shows SO many warnings…..

well i re edit the post because i think this file is a random driver name that daemon tools created….isn't it?

I agree - wait until your log has been declared clean before anything else - or else you risk making changes that may affect how HJT results should, or should not, be addressed.

Do note that some rootkits can survive a normal format - not cool. But that means this might have been there for some time - assuming it is not a false positive. That said, a Google search of that file shows 1 hit - this thread! That suggests to me the file can be deleted (but I would rename first - to make sure nothing breaks) - and again, that is after the experts cleared my log.

had to do a format to boot the pc again, and after the format(a technician did it) it went sloooowwww

And who did the OS reinstall and what CD was used?
firstly,a technician did the first format and he used a copy of windows xp….don't ask why,i live in greece and if you want to do something right you have to do it yourself….after the first problems,i did a format using my own windows xp cd….again the same problems …i have done 4 formats in total with different cds…nothing worked….the pc worked fine the first 10 minutes after the first boot and then it started being verryyyy slowww……and as for the rootkit, i deleted it but avg found another rootkit in the same directory …….:( re edit* i uninstalled DAEMON tools and the rootkit is gone….:)
