Hi, You were recommended to me by InfamousDrKnow on the FreePCCleanupSecurity. I'm having some problems downloading F Secure. What I'm going to do is copy and paste my posts on PCCleanup, and the replies I have received: This 1st was in reply to a suggestion to use F Secure online scanning, followed by Panda Active Scan: Oh my, it looks like my problems are myriad at the moment!! I went for your suggestion and when I clicked on "start scanning" a box came up stating "Insufficient rights to use ActiveX controls! Please check your user rights and Internet Explorer security settings" please may I have your suggestions? The reply to this was: Permission to run ActiveX controls is stored in the Registry. You can turn it on and off in the Security options of Internet Options (on the Control Panel or from the Tools menu of Internet Explorer...Internet Options). The "Security level for this zone" options block has a "Custom level" button that brings up a gigantic list of permissions for specific features and extensions to Internet Explorer. The ActiveX permissions are on that list. You can probably enable ActiveX controls on Web sites by allowing only signed controls to run... Under the following Headings, make these changes: * Binary and script behaviors Enable * Download signed ActiveX controls Prompt (recommended) * Run ActiveX controls as plug-ins Enable * Run ActiveX controls marked as safe for scripting* Enable Don't change anything else and click OK. You may have to reboot. My reply: Thanks very much for your help, but all those settings were already there!!!! What shall I do now? I was directed to download Hijack this, and save a log, which I shall now attempt to add to this, I hope I can do it ok............and, no I can't (story of my life at the moment!! ) I have a message saying "upload failed, you are not permitted to upload this type of file" Is there any other way to get it to you? Hi,

Thanks for replying, and please don't apologise. I was told that it may take a while to receive a reply, must admit I'd actually forgotten I'd posted!!! Not as many problems now, well, at least none that I know of, but perhaps you'll tell me differently having looked at the logfile As far as I can see, I have only only one problem, to do with a webcam I bought and installed recently, I can't get rid of the registration box, I've actually gone into my files and folders and deleted all reference to the registration of the product, but it keeps popping up, no matter what I do!

Download ComboFix from Here or Here to your Desktop.
**Note: In the event you already have Combofix, please delete it from your desktop and download this new version . It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop**

• Close any open browsers and make sure you are disconnected from the net. Unplug the cable if need be before running combofix.
• WARNING: IF you have not already done so Combofix will disconnect your machine from the Internet when it starts
• Please do not re-connect your machine back to the Internet until Combofix has completely finished.

Double click on combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
When finished, it will produce a report for you.
Please post the "C:\ComboFix.txt" along with a new HijackThis log for further review

****Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall or freeze ****

*If there is no internet connection when Combofix has completely finished then restart your computer to restore back the connections.

Give it atleast 20-30 minutes to finish

I have done that, but I can't find the text to send you....I really know so little about this!! If you can give me step by step instructions I'd be obliged. I shall copy and paste the HijackThis log now.

Not sure that this anwers the problem..........he can access his email account from my daughter's pc but when he tries to sign in on this one, he puts in his user name and password, and they just clear from the boxes, he's left with blank boxes again. Regards Jenni

After he puts in his user name and password, hold down the CTRL key and try logging in. The CTRL key will allow popups / cookies incase that site requires it.
