Hi flagg79,

Please press Start->Run, copy/paste the following command (it's one long command) into the box and press OK:

cmd /c dir "c:\program files" /a >> "%userprofile%\desktop\look.txt"

A black box will open and a file will appear on your Desktop called look.txt.
Please wait until the black box closes before opening look.txt and post the contents in your next response.

Then, download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) to your Desktop (right-click the link, select Save Target As…, select your Desktop and press Save)
  • Close all applications and windows.
  • Double-click on dss.exe to run it, and follow the prompts.
  • When the scan is complete, two text files will open - main.txt <- this one will be maximized and extra.txt<-this one will be minimized
  • Make sure Format->Word Wrap is unchecked
  • Copy (Ctrl+A then Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of main.txt and extra.txt in your reply

Once complete, please post the look.txt output and both DSS logs, you won't need to produce a new HijackThis log as DSS produces one for you.
thanks for the reply. here are the logs.

thank you again for the cotinued help!
Hi flagg79, The OTMoveIt did have errors but the files were moved successfully. If you did in fact reverse these changes we will have to repeat that step but I will adjust the instructions so you hopefully will not get errors. There appears to be a commercial keylogging program installed on this computer, so before proceeding I need to ask: are you are the owner or administrator of this machine?
I am the owner of this machine. keylogger software? should i be worried about this? is it being uploaded out of my computer? I have factory installed Toshiba HotKey software installed. Noton or AdAware hasnt picked up anything unusual. Thanks again!
Hi flagg79,

The commercial keylogger software on your computer has the ability to record passwords and other information from your system, you can read some details here. If you did not know this software was installed and you use your computer for sensitive purposes such as internet banking then I recommend you take the following steps immediately:
  • Use another computer to change all your internet passwords, especially ones with financial implications such as banks, paypal, ebay, etc. You should also change the passwords for any other site you use.
  • Call your bank(s), credit card company or any other institution which may be affected and advise them that your login/password or credit card information may have been stolen and ask what steps to take with regard to your account.
  • Consider what other private information could possibly have been taken from your computer and take appropriate steps

I have included instructions to remove this software as it appears you have no knowledge of it. If you wish to keep it then please stop and let me know. I ask this because it is commercial software and sometimes this has been installed purposefully.

These OTMoveIt instructions should hopefully produce no errors, however if they do, please do NOT reverse the changes, just post the log and we will take it from there. They are slightly different than before so please read them carefully.
  • Double-click OTMoveIt2.exe to start the program.
  • UN-check the box marked Unregister Dll's and Ocx's
  • Copy the lines in the OTMoveIt file list below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose Copy):

  • Copy everything in the Results window (under the green bar) to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy), and paste it in your next reply.
  • Close OTMoveIt2
Note: If a file or folder cannot be moved immediately you may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the move process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes. In this case, after the reboot, open Notepad (Start->All Programs->Accessories->Notepad), click File->Open, in the File Name box enter *.log and press the Enter key, navigate to the C:\_OTMoveIt\MovedFiles folder, and open the newest .log file present, and copy/paste the contents of that document back here in your next post.

Then, please do an online scan with Kaspersky:

http://www.kaspersky.com/kos/eng/partner/d…kavwebscan.html
  • Click Accept and the web scanner will begin to load
  • If a yellow warning bar appears at the top of the browser, click it and choose Install ActiveX Control
  • You will be prompted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, click Install
  • If you are prompted about another ActiveX control called Kaspersky Online Scanner GUI part then allow it to be installed also.
  • The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files:
  • Once the files have been downloaded click on Next and then Scan Settings
  • In the scan settings make that the following are selected:
    • Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
    Extended
    • Scan Options:
    Scan Archives
    Scan Mail Bases
  • Click OK
  • Now under select a target to scan:Select My Computer
  • The program will start to scan your system.
  • Once the scan is complete, click on the Save Report As… button, change Save as type: to Text file and save the file to your desktop as Kaspersky.txt

Once complete, please post the OTMoveIt report, the Kaspersky report and a new HijackThis log.

did this fix that keylogger? im very worried about that.

thanks man
computer seems to be running fine. just wish i knew where that darn keylogger came from! what was the name of it and can u tell when it was installed?
Hi,

The time-stamp on the keylogger's folder is 2008-03-08 20:06:51. I haven't cleaned a launch point for it, so it's possible that it has not been active, but I can't be sure of this so it's best to assume it has been and take appropriate steps.

I'd like to do one further check:

Open Notepad: press Start->Run, type notepad into the box and press OK
Select Format from the top menu and make sure Word Wrap is NOT checked.
Then, copy/paste the contents of the following code box into Notepad:
@echo off
dir "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Ssdata" /a /s >> "%userprofile%\desktop\look3.txt"
dir "c:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\DAO" /a /s >> "%userprofile%\desktop\look3.txt"
dir "c:\Windows\system32\ss*.*" /a >> "%userprofile%\desktop\look3.txt"
dir "c:\Windows\system32\sysmnt.dat" /a >> "%userprofile%\desktop\look3.txt"
dir "c:\Windows\ss*.*" /a >> "%userprofile%\desktop\look3.txt"
Select File and Save as
Save it to your Desktop as "runme.bat" (you MUST type the quotes)
Locate runme.bat on your Desktop and double-click it.
A black box should open and close after a short time, this is normal.
Another text file should appear on your Desktop called look3.txt, do not open it until the black box has closed.
Post the contents of this file in your next response.
