Hi prof_brian60, sorry for the long wait…..

You have two antivirus programs running on this computer. They are both system hogs and will fight each other for your system's resources. They may even, possibly fight each other's virus definitions. Please uninstall one of them. If you've paid for Symantec and it's up to date, then uninstall AVG.
If you are using a version of Norton/Symantec that came pre-installed on your system, then follow these instructions to uninstall it:
http://basconotw.mvps.org/SymRem.htm

After you have done the above, please download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) and save it to your Desktop.
  • Close all other windows before proceeding.
  • Double-click on dss.exe and follow the prompts.
  • When it has finished, dss will open two Notepads main.txt and extra.txt – please copy (CTRL+A and then CTRL+C) and paste (CTRL+V) the contents of main.txt and extra.txt in your next reply.
thanks for you help. here ae the logs you equested

– End of Deckard's System Scanner: finished at 2008-03-17 15:41:08 ————
Comodo has been disabled and so has Windows firewall. What are you using? Please enable Windows firewall for now (if you are not using one)

I can see these two bad files are missing:
S4 perfmons (perfmons Service) - c:\windows\system32\perfs.exe (file missing)
S4 Routing (Routing Service) - c:\windows\system32\routing.exe (file missing)

Just to make sure, please copy (Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) the following text in the quote to Notepad. Save it as "All Files" and name it FixServices.bat. Please save it on your desktop

@echo off
sc stop perfmons
sc stop Routing
sc delete perfmons
sc delete Routing
exit

Double click FixServices.bat. A window will open and close. This is normal.

Next, download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop
http://www.majorgeeks.com/Malwarebytes_Ant…ware_d5756.html

* Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
* At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select Perform full scan, then click Scan.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location. Copy and Paste that log into your next reply.

I would also like to see a Kaspersky scan log.

Please run a free online scan with Kaspersky AntiVirus (works only
with MS Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher).
Go to http://www.kaspersky.co.uk/virusscanner and click the "Kaspersky
Online Scanner
" button (NOT "Kaspersky File Scanner").
a.. 1. In the new window that opens, click the "Accept" button to
accept the user agreement, install the ActiveX control, and download the
program.
b.. 2. When you get the Windows dialog asking if you want to install this
software, click the "Install" button.
c.. 3. When the "Update progress" line changes to "Ready" and the
"NEXT ->" button lights up with a
green arrow, click it.
d.. 4. Click on the "Scan Settings" button, and in the next window
select the "extended" database, and click Ok.
e.. 5. Under "Please select a target to scan:", click My Computer
to start the scan.
6. When the scan is finished, click the "Save as Text" button, and
save the file as kavscan.txt to your Desktop, close the Kaspersky On-line
Scanner window, and post the text in kavscan.txt in your next reply.

Restart your system, and post:

It's looking pretty good :)

Disable Windows Defender so that it won't interfere with this fix.

Rescan with HJT, check this item:

O20 - Winlogon Notify: AutorunsDisabled - C:\Windows\

Close all windows except HJT, then click 'fix checked'.

Reboot/restart your machine normally.

Post a fresh HJT log.

thanks again
How is your computer running?

Your HJT log is clean. :)

We need to do this to remove infected files that have been backed up by
Windows. The files in System Restore are protected to prevent any programs
from changing those files. This is the only way to clean these files: (You
will lose all previous restore points which are likely to be infected)
a..
  • b..
  • Click Start » Run » ( type: SYSDM.CPL ) » OK
    c..
  • Click the System Restore tab.
    d..
  • Check - Turn off System Restore.
    e..
  • Click Apply.
    f..
  • Uncheck - Turn off System Restore.
    g..
  • Click OK.

You have now flushed your previous System Restore points, so we will make a
new one again since your computer is already clean.

a..
  • b..
  • Go to Start » All Programs » Accessories » System Tools, and
    select System Restore
    c..
  • In the System Restore prompt, select: Create a restore point
    d..
  • Click Next
    e..
  • Give a description to the new Restore Point. (Something like:
    Clean PC)
    f..
  • Click Create
    g..
  • Then close the window

Make your Internet Explorer more secure - This
can be done by following these simple instructions:

  • From within Internet Explorer click on the Tools menu and then
    click on Options.
  • Click once on the Security tab
  • Click once on the Internet icon so it becomes highlighted.
  • Click once on the Custom Level button.
    1. Change the Download signed ActiveX controls to Prompt
    2. Change the Download unsigned ActiveX controls to Disable
    3. Change the Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as
      safe
      to Disable
    4. Change the Installation of desktop items to Prompt
    5. Change the Launching programs and files in an IFRAME to
      Prompt
    6. Change the Navigate sub-frames across different domains to
      Prompt
    7. When all these settings have been made, click on the OK button.
    8. If it prompts you as to whether or not you want to save the settings,
      press the Yes button.
    9. Next press the Apply button and then the OK to exit the
      Internet Properties page.
    10. Use an AntiVirus Software - It is very
important that your computer has an anti-virus software running on your
machine. This alone can save you a lot of trouble with malware in the
future. See this link for a listing of some online & their stand-alone
      antivirus programs:
Virus, Spyware, and Malware Protection and Removal Resources
    11. Update your AntiVirus Software - It is
imperitive that you update your Antivirus software at least once a week
(Even more if you wish). If you do not update your antivirus software then
it will not be able to catch any of the new variants that may come out.
    12. Use a Firewall - I can not stress how
important it is that you use a Firewall on your computer. Without a firewall
your computer is susceptible to being hacked and taken over. I am very
serious about this and see it happen almost every day with my clients.
Simply using a Firewall in its default configuration can lower your risk
greatly. For a tutorial on Firewalls and a listing of some available ones
      see the link below:
      Understanding and Using Firewalls
    13. Visit Microsoft's Windows Update Site
      Frequently
      - It is important that you visit
      http://www.windowsupdate.com
regularly. This will ensure your computer has always the latest security
updates available installed on your computer. If there are new updates to
install, install them immediately, reboot your computer, and revisit the
site until there are no more critical updates.
    14. Install SpywareBlaster - SpywareBlaster will
add a large list of programs and sites into your Internet Explorer
settings that will protect you from running and downloading known malicious
programs. A tutorial on installing & using this product can be found here:
Using SpywareBlaster to protect your computer from Spyware and Malware
    15. Update all these programs regularly - Make
sure you update all the programs I have listed regularly. Without regular
updates you WILL NOT be protected when new malicious programs are
      released.
Follow this list and your potential for being infected again will
reduce dramatically.
thanks for the info. I use norton 360 for virus and firewall protection. Every few weeks I run kaspersky. I also run S&D as well as adaware frequently. I do update everything using secuna and I use firefox not exploere(except when i have to) thanks again b.
