Hello,

It's Friday and I'm posting a just run Hijackthis Report as promised.

I know you have me up-date my Java…but I could only get the up-date for "3"….should I try and get the 4th one?

Again…I can't thank you enough for everything!

Let me know if there is anything I should do.

Thanks again

Although the file that you deleted appears to have been at the centre of your problem, i'd generally be careful about deleting files unless you are certain. http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/startups/x….exe-21960.html indicates that a file called xInsIDE.exe is actually legitimate. Although this example is in a different location, you can't guarantee that it cannot be found elsewhere.
If you have suspicions in the future, i'd rename the file to filename.old rather than delete it - this will just disable the file. One reboot later and you should know whether it's the cause of your problems. If it isn't, change the file extension back to .exe, reboot., and the PC's back to normal. Do bear in mind that if the file is vital to your PC that it may not boot at all, so check the Properties for an owner before you stick it in a coma - if it's Microsoft, it's probably best to leave it alone!

Given that the pop-ups have stopped, i'd delete the folder that the file was in too, unless you can identify it as something you need - the contents should help. If you aren't sure, i'd be careful about removing it, just in case.

1) Your log doesn't appear to show a third-party software firewall installed - if you have one, and i've missed it, please ignore this.
If you are relying the firewall that comes with Service Pack 2, then you need to install one. While the SP2 firewall is better than nothing, it doesn't monitor outgoing traffic, so anything malicious on your computer can 'phone home' at will.
If you are using a wireless router that comes with a NAT hardware firewall, this also doesn't monitor outgoing connections.

There are a few free firewalls available.
Zone Alarm: Available here.
Kerio: Available here.
Outpost: Available here.
Comodo: Available here.

It is important to note that you should only have one firewall installed at a time, but you can download them all to your Desktop and install each in turn to see which one you prefer.

Understanding and Using Firewalls: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial60.html

2) Go to Start > Run, enter the following into the textbox and click OK: combofix /u
This will uninstall Combofix and do a little housework besides.

3) Some bedtime reading: This is a very good tutorial about keeping your computer safe and secure on the internet.
