[Resolved] Windows XP freezing

We have a 15 month old HP Pavilion running Windows XP. Lately it's been freezing up. Sometimes it will be only for a short time and other times it will freeze so long that the computer reboots itself after flashing a blue screen that I never have time to read. It doesn't seem to matter how many programs are running at the time. Please help, we're ready to toss this thing out the window.

Download Winhelp2002's deldomain.inf to your desktop. http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/DelDomains.inf

Right-click on the deldomains.inf file and select 'Install'
It will not appear to have done anything, thats ok.

Click HERE to run Panda's ActiveScan

* You need to use IE to run this scan
* Once you are on the Panda site click the Scan your PC button
* A new window will open…click the Check Now button
* Enter your Country
* Enter your State/Province
* Enter your e-mail address and click send
* Select either Home User or Company
* Click the big Scan Now button
* If it wants to install an ActiveX component allow it
* It will start downloading the files it requires for the scan (Note: It may take a couple of minutes)
* When download is complete, click on My Computer to start the scan
* When the scan completes, if anything malicious is detected, click the See Report button, then Save Report and save it to a convenient location. Post the contents of the ActiveScan report

I tried running ActiveScan and the first time, Internet Explorer had to shut down. The second time, it was almost all the way through and the computer restarted itself. The third time, it was barely into it and I couldn't get into anything in the computer for nearly 3 hours. Is there something else I could try, or should I just keep going with this?

Run this online scan from ESET

You will need to use Internet explorer for this scan!
  • First, accept the Terms of Use
  • Click: Start
  • When asked, allow the ActiveX control to install

  • Make sure the options:
    Remove found threats, and Scan unwanted applications
    are both checked!
  • Click: Scan

When the scan finishes, use Notepad to open the ESET report.
It will be located here C:\Program Files\EsetOnlineScanner\log.txt

Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop.

* Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
* Be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select Perform FULL SCAN, then click Scan.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location. The log can also be opened by going to Start > All Programs > Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware > Logs > log-date.txt

Right this very second, the computer is behaving itself. Last night after I managed to get completely through the Malwarebyte's scan, I tried the Panda scan again. It started to scan and then about 20 minutes into the scan, Internet Explorer just closed. It was late by that point and I didn't feel like messing with it any longer.

I'd like to see an Uninstall List. Please open up HijackThis. Click on Open the Misc Tools section button Click on Open Uninstall Manager Click on Save A notepad document will open with a list of your installed programs. Please copy that into your reply.
