You could try System Restore. 1. Click Start. 2. Point to All Programs. 3. Point to Accessories. 4. Point to System Tools. 5. Click System Restore. 6. Follow the instructions on the wizard. See if you can find a date the the PC worked.
hi yea theres a problem with the system restore, i cant do that as i just had to re-install windows about 2 weeks ago because my whole computer broke down. I tried the system restore thing but i havent got any restore dates available to use brfore the re-installation of windows, and when I try to do it on a date after I've re-installed windows it wont allow me to do that either. when i start up the computer theres automatically a wintools thing that comes up. i think its from crawler or somthin like that. it keeps on asking me to update it, i keep on exiting it, but i think this is where the problem is stemming from. Is there anything else I can do?
Well lets see if it's spyware/malware.

I suggest you do this:

Double-click My Computer.
Click the Tools menu, and then click Folder Options.
Click the View tab.
Clear "Hide file extensions for known file types."
Under the "Hidden files" folder, select "Show hidden files and folders."
Clear "Hide protected operating system files."
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Please do not delete anything unless instructed to.

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
Download - ATF Cleaner»
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.

(If you use FireFox or the Opera browser
To keep saved passwords, click No at the prompt.)

It's normal after running ATF cleaner that the PC will be slower to boot the first time or two.

Next:

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop.

  • Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
  • At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select Perform quick scan, then click Scan.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location and post the results.
Also "copy/paste" a new HijackThis log file into this thread.

Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.
hi thanks for getting back to me, sorry for it to take so long but ive got to download everything you ask me at uni as the internet is funny here.

right i did everything you asked me to do, i couldnt do the atf cleaner at first as the system wouldnt let me, so i did the malware bytes thing first and then i dd the atf cleaner afterwards hope that doesnt make much of a difference, but unfortunately i couldnt do it the other way round.

everything seems fine except that when i use the google toolbar it still opens up a blank page and doesnt give me my results and then my cpu performance level thing skyrockets, so i end up having to close down the blank page and start afresh. -how can i get this to stop - should i download a new google toolbar and delete this one?

thanks a lot for your help i really appreciate it.

listed below are the logs that you asked for.

It looks like you didn't do this.
Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.

All the bad ones show: No action taken.

Try the scan again.
i did select them and delete them but they obviously didnt get deleted. i did another scan and it doesnt show that anything is present on the system. the first time i did it it showed 26 or 28 infected items, but now it shows 0 so i dont really know whats going on.. is there another way i can delete these things?
Great. Then it looks like those are gone.
Lets dig a little deeper.

Download ComboFix from Here or Here to your Desktop.
**Note: In the event you already have Combofix, please delete it from your desktop and download this new version . It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop**
——————————————————————–
  • Close any open browsers and make sure you are disconnected from the net. Unplug the cable if need be before running combofix.
  • WARNING: IF you have not already done so Combofix will disconnect your machine from the Internet when it starts
  • Please do not re-connect your machine back to the Internet until Combofix has completely finished.
——————————————————————–

Double click on combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
When finished, it will produce a report for you.
Please post the "C:\ComboFix.txt" along with a new HijackThis log for further review

****Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall or freeze ****

*If there is no internet connection when Combofix has completely finished then restart your computer to restore back the connections.

Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.
I did what you asked but its still playing up. for some reason in my running processes whenever i have ieplorer open another one comes up and uses all my memory, so i keep on having to end that process. i still cant type anything in the address bar thing, i removed the google toolbar as that wasnt working either. lol its really annoying i have to use regular google to get onto any website.

here all the logs:

Looks like you have more then one Anti-Virus program running.

I suggest you do this:

1.Click on Start | Settings | Control Panel
2.In the control panel double-click on Add / Remove Programs
3.Look through the list of installed programs for any item that says either "Norton" or "Symantec" or "LiveUpdate". (for example "Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition" or "Norton AntiVirus 2000")
4.For each "Norton", "Symantec", or "LiveUpdate" item, select the item and click Add / Remove. Follow the instructions, and click Yes or Yes to all when prompted.
When you are done there should be no items in the list that say "Norton", "Symantec", or "LiveUpdate".
5.Click OK to close the Add / Remove Programs window.
6.Reboot your computer if it hasn't already automatically rebooted.
7.Delete the c:\Program Files\Symantec AntiVirus (or c:\Program Files\Norton) folder.
8.Delete the c:\Program Files\Symantec folder.
9.Delete the c:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared folder.

Reboot and "copy/paste" a new HijackThis log file into this thread.

Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.
