Hi,

I am having problems on my laptop. When I am using IE I get a window opening under the active window advertising various things.

I have run SpyBot search & Destroy, Ad-Aware and Superantispyware all found things are removed them but I still get the windows opening.

The windows don’t appear straight away, they open up after approx 1 min after opening IE.

Any help would be great,

Hi

Not seeing much in your log, so lets look a little deeper.

Download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) to your Desktop. Note: You must be logged onto an account with administrator privileges.
  • Close all applications and windows.
  • Double-click on dss.exe to run it, and follow the prompts.
  • When the scan is complete, two text files will open - main.txt <- this one will be maximized and extra.txt<-this one will be minimized
  • Copy (Ctrl+A then Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of main.txt and the extra.txt in your reply.
Thanks,

jpshortstuff

You don't appear to be running a third party firewall.

Install a firewall! Without a firewall you are very susceptible to being hacked, and people could gain access to your computer. If you don't have a firewall I strongly recommend you download ONE of the following:
1) Comodo
2) Agnitum
3) Sunbelt/Kerio

Please run this online scan:

Panda ActiveScan

  • Once you are on the Panda site, click the Scan your PC button
  • A new window will open…click the Check Now button
  • Enter your Country
  • Enter your State/Province
  • Enter your e-mail address and click send
  • Select either Home User or Company
  • Click the big Scan Now button
  • If it wants to install an ActiveX component allow it
  • It will start downloading the files it requires for the scan (Note: It may take a couple of minutes)
  • When download is complete, click on Local Disks to start the scan
  • When the scan completes, if anything malicious is detected, click the See Report button, then Save Report and save it to a convenient location.

Post the contents of the Panda scan report, along with a new DSS Log

Please describe any changes to your computer's behavior.

Thanks,

jpshortstuff
Hi jpshortstuff,

I have done what you have suggested and included the log files below. When I when to c:\documents and settings\walker murray\local settings\application data\prmnevbit.exe I could not find the file.

When I ran the dss.exe file it only gave me a main.txt file not a extra.txt

Main.txt

Please download the OTMoveIt2 by OldTimer.
  • Save it to your desktop.
  • Please double-click OTMoveIt2.exe to run it. (Note: If you are running on Vista, right-click on the file and choose Run As Administrator).
  • Copy the lines in the codebox below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose Copy):

    c:\documents and settings\walker murray\local settings\application data\prmnevbit.exe
    C:\Documents and Settings\Walker Murray\My Documents\W1inMoviePlugIn.lnk
  • Return to OTMoveIt2, right click in the "Paste Standard List of Files/Folders to Move" window (under the light blue bar) and choose Paste.
  • Click the red Moveit! button.
  • Copy everything in the Results window (under the green bar) to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy), and paste it in your next reply.
  • Close OTMoveIt2
Note: If a file or folder cannot be moved immediately you may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the move process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes. In this case, after the reboot, open Notepad (Start->All Programs->Accessories->Notepad), click File->Open, in the File Name box enter *.log and press the Enter key, navigate to the C:\_OTMoveIt\MovedFiles folder, and open the newest .log file present, and copy/paste the contents of that document back here in your next post.

You don't appear to be running any third party Firewall software.

Install a firewall! Without a firewall you are very susceptible to being hacked, and people could gain access to your computer. If you don't have a firewall I strongly recommend you download ONE of the following:
1) Comodo
2) Agnitum
3) Sunbelt/Kerio

Please reboot your computer, post a new DSS log (there will be no extra.txt) and then describe how the computer is running at the moment.

Thanks.
Hi, jpshortstuff Tried what you said and I am still getting the windows poping up under IE. I have decided it is going to be easier to backup the data and re-load system. Thanks for your help
If you are sure you don't want to carry on, then so be it. We will be more than happy to work with you and finish this off if you want to. If you do want to carry on here, post a DSS log and the OTMoveIt log, if not, best of luck to you, hope you get this all sorted
