My internet runs very fast then slows down to a crawl. I have Zonealarm installed and Spybot too. I get a icon in the sys tray that says your computer is infected with Malware Crush. I have tried Cwshredder, PC Tools Spyware Doctor, Adaware, Spybot, and I nothing works. I have also tried all these programs in SafeMode as well. Please Help. And as a side note, I am bumping this tread, just adding what I have done in the last couple of days to fix it.

Thanks
Shawn Eckhart

Sorry about the delay in responding :(

If you still need help, Scan again with HijackThis, and copy/paste" a new log file into this thread.

Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.
I saw all the post you had to do. You are a very busy man. Thanks for helping all of us that are pulling our hair out!! Since my last post I have gotten rid of all the malware and think I have a pretty clean machine now. But I ran Hijackthis and have deleted something that I should not have, because after the cleaning it is still running very slow. It runs extremely fast for the first 3 or 4 clicks in the browser and then slows or stops. And the problem is universal. It happens with Firefox, Opera, MSN, Napster, everything. Any suggestion?

But I ran Hijackthis and have deleted something that I should not have

Lets deal with this first. HJT creates a "backup" folder. It will either be on your desktop or where you have the HJT program: C:\Program Files\Hijackthis\

Open HijackThis and click View List of Backups.
You can restore any of the ones listed by adding a check mark / tick in the box next to the item.
I went back as far as I could, but i had unistalled Hijackthis and all my spyware and virus programs and even firewall too see if that helped. Of course it didn't and I lost the backup files that I needed. I know, I know. I should have waited, but I got a little jumpy and did it. What now? Reinstalling Windows needs to be the VERY LAST thing. This computer is used at work and drives a Large format printer and can't afford to have it go down even for a day. Would take forever to get everything back online and printing again. :pullhair: So can we do anything else?

Close ALL windows and browsers except HijackThis and click "Fix checked"

Reboot and "copy/paste" a new HijackThis log file into this thread.

Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.
That file is not listed in that location. I see it in the log file, but I swear it is not there when I go to delete it from Hijackthis Delete on File on Reboot.
Double-click My Computer.
Click the Tools menu, and then click Folder Options.
Click the View tab.
Uncheck "Hide file extensions for known file types."
Under the "Hidden files" folder, select "Show hidden files and folders."
Uncheck "Hide protected operating system files."
Click Apply, and then click OK.

Now see if you can see it.
Keep the view's like that at all times. And it is not in that folder. Did another Log file and it is there plain as day, but can't find it in explorer. Should I get a sledge hammer and fix the problem?

  • Please do not re-connect your machine back to the Internet until Combofix has completely finished.
——————————————————————–

Give it at least 20 mins. You might try shutting down the pc, disconnect your internet connection and try it again. If it still doesn't run, try the above running in Safe Mode. Restart your computer in Safe Mode. Press F8 after the Power-On Self Test (POST) is done. If the Windows Advanced Options Menu does not appear, try restarting and then pressing F8 several times after the POST screen. Choose the Safe Mode option from the Windows Advanced Options Menu then press Enter. This can take several miniutes to load.
Your right, its running fine now. Just didn't expect it to take so long to start. Says: Completed Stage 7 and still going. I am using my laptop while that is running. Both computers are wired to the router, and this one is running at full speed. Tried changing wires but made no difference.

Your right, its running fine now. Just didn't expect it to take so long to start.

Says:

Completed Stage 7

and still going.

It all depends on how hard it has to work to go through all the files / folders.
