Can someone please help me with a problem I have been having with my laptop.
I first had spyware and malware really bad and I almost couldn't do anything because of the pop ups.
I also was unable to use "Task Manager" (it was greyed out) and I was unable to get into control panel (it didnt even show up)
I ran "smitfraudfix" because that is what Spybot showed as a problem. That cleaned up alot and brought back task manager and control panel.
The problems I am still having are:
1) My internet homepage is now Google (I didn't set that)
2) I cannot get into "Internet options" so I cannot change my homepage.
3) On computer startup I get the following two errors
a) "Windows cannot find C:\WINDOWS\system32\msanton.exe
B) "Error loading C:\WINDOWS\system32\njwkhfdk.dll

I ran Spybot and it showed 2 entries of Virtumonde.crack ,
1 entry of Virtumonde.dll and 1 entry of Virtumonde
I selected "fix problems"

any help would be much appreciated.

below is my hijackthis log.

Welcome to the WTT Forums
My name is mschroe919 and I am going to read your log.
I would like to help you So if you would….
Please be patient and I will be back as soon as possible.
One thing I would ask you to do while I am reading what is here.
Some bad stuff hides when the name HijackThis\HijackThis.exe
shows up. So please go to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis\HijackThis.exe
Right click on HijackThis.exe and rename it to Scann.exe, reboot and post another log
using the Scann.exe the same way you used HijackThis.exe
I will be looking at what you have sent to start and I will wait till I see the new log.
Good luck mschroe919
I havn't been getting my email notification all, so I will just keep goin back an checking.
Hi mschroe919,

Thank you very much for taking the time to look into my problem.
here is my new log file for hijackthis.
I first went in and changed the name of the hijackthis exe to scann.exe. I then rebooted and ran a new scan

thanks again

below is the new log file:

While TeaTimer is an excellent tool for the prevention of spyware, it can sometimes prevent HijackThis from fixing certain things.
Please disable TeaTimer for now until you are clean. TeaTimer can be re-activated once your HijackThis log is clean.

* Open Spybot Search & Destroy.
* In the Mode menu click "Advanced mode" if not already selected.
* Choose "Yes" at the Warning prompt.
* Expand the "Tools" menu.
* Click "Resident".
* Uncheck the "Resident "TeaTimer" (Protection of overall system settings) active." box.
* In the File menu click "Exit" to exit Spybot Search & Destroy.

Download ComboFix from Here or Here to your Desktop.

**Note: In the event you already have Combofix, this is a new version that I need you to download. It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop**
——————————————————————–
1. Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

  • Very Important! Temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any anti-malware real-time protection before performing a scan. They can interfere with ComboFix or remove some of its embedded files which may cause "unpredictable results"
  • Click on this link to see a list of programs that should be disabled. The list is not all inclusive. If yours is not listed and you don't know how to disable it, please ask.
  • Remember to re enable the protection again afterwards before connecting to the net
——————————————————————–
2. Close any open browsers and make sure you are disconnected from the net. Unplug the cable if need be before running combofix.
  • WARNING: IF you have not already done so Combofix will disconnect your machine from the Internet when it starts
  • Please do not re-connect your machine back to the Internet until Combofix has completely finished.
  • If there is no internet connection when Combofix has completely finished then restart your computer to restore back the connections.

Double click on combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
When finished, it will produce a report for you.
Please post the "C:\ComboFix.txt" along with a new HijackThis log for further review

****Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall or freeze ****

Good Luck

Should I disable my trend micro client-server security agent? I have a problem if I do have to because I need a password in order to do that. This is a work computer and they have password protected it so that we can not disable it.
Hi can you fist turn off the anti virus part by right clicking on the icon on the botton, right side of task bar and chosse exit and when done right click and restart? If work computer how do you get to internet? If wireless shut off the connection and do the fix as I described in the last post. You need it to download the combo fix, but definitly don't run it while hooked up to internet. Let me know what you are going to do. Good luck mschroe919
Hi The problem with Trend Micro Client-Server is that there is no disable like I've seen with other Antivirus programs. In order to disable it, I have to right click the Icon on the task bar and then select "Unload Client-Server" I need a password to do this. If this needs to be done, I will try to get a hold of the guy at my shop and get the password. To answer the question about how do I get online. My work laptop is on a wireless network in our shop. I have a broadband wireless card for on the road (our work orders and such are done over the internet) and at home I have it on my home wireless router. Also do I need to do any further disabling of Spybot (I disabled the tea-timer) and do I have to do anything with windows built in security such as Windows XP firewall.
Good morning, Well I would sugest you get the program and then disconect the wireless card and then preform the program as I sugested. The only thing that would and could happen is it would't work, but no damage to laptop.Once you have the program you should't need to dis able firewall, but it wouldn't hurt to do so.You have a lot of problems on this laptop. We will get them all but this is a start. Let me know how you make out. Good luck mschreo919
Ok. I have downloaded Combofix to my desktop. I will give it a try later today. In the mean time I will try to get the password in order to disable server-client. But if I can't I will give it a try anyway. Thank you again for your help.
I got the password and I was able to shutoff my antivirus.
I ran the Combofix and then ran hijackthis again.

Hi MBART,
Sorry to be taken so long but your log needed a lot of attention. After this and I see the new
logs there will be more to do.
FIRST:
. Please open Notepad
Click Start , then Run
Type notepad .exe in the Run Box.

2. Now copy/paste the entire content of the code box below into the Notepad window:
File::
C:\WINDOWS\dracve.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\mllji.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\jkkjj.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\njwkhfdk.dll

Note: the above code was created specifically for this user. If you are not this user, do NOT follow these directions as they could damage the workings of your system.

3. Save the above as CFScript.txt

4. Now STOP all your monitoring programs (Antivirus/Antispyware, Guards and Shields) as they could easily interfere with ComboFix.

5. Then drag the CFScript.txt into ComboFix.exe as depicted in the animation below. This will start ComboFix again.
[external image: Posted Image]
Note:
Do not mouse-click combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

6. ComboFix will automatically REBOOT your machine when the KillAll:: switch is used..

7. Next, re-enable all the programs that you disabled prior to running ComboFix.

8. Post the following logs/Reports:
ComboFix.txt
Fresh HijackThis log
run after all the other tools have performed their cleanup.

CF disconnects your machine from the internet. The connection is automatically restored before CF completes its run. If CF runs into difficulty and terminates prematurely, the connection can be manually restored by restarting your machine.
Good luck mschroe919

Hi mschroe919,

Sorry it took me so long to get this done. I was just very busy.
anyway I performed all of the steps and things seem better. I haven't had much time online with this laptop so I can't comment on search windows popping up or anything. I did however notice that when I'm online, if I select "Tools - Internet Options" in order to reset my homepage, it still says this operation has been cancelled due to restrictions. However I can get into internet options by going through "Start - Programs - Accessories - System tools - Security center.
I think things are good now but I guess the logs will show.
I do not get the file warnings on start up anymore.

here is my AVG Log:
