[Resolved] HiJackThis Log...In Desperate Need of Help, Please!

About four months ago, my IE browser and my CD/DVD drive stopped working. I took my laptop to a "professional" and had the entire thing reformatted. For awhile, everything worked fine, but then approximately three months ago, my IE browser started acting up again. It would freeze and crash whenever I opened a separate browser. I then switched to FireFox and have had no problems with that. However, about two weeks ago, all of my instant messengers stopped working. I ran Spybot, Adaware, Norton, and McAfee,and removed all of the malicious files found. This did not fix the problem. Also, I discovered that I cannot access system restore nor the area to change user information. There are probably other areas that I cannot access that I have yet to come across. Here is the log from HiJackThis. I ran it in safe mode, but can do so again not in safe mode, if need be.

I hope that someone can help me quickly. I need my laptop in working order for my school work. Thank you all.

UPDATE: I ran Norton AntiVirus shortly after posting this, and nine viruses were found. One was able to be removed while the other eight were quarantined. While both my MSN and YiM are now working, I am still having trouble accessing AIM and several other online applications. I also received a message from Threat Fire that I have Trojan.Vundo. Download ComboFix from Here or Here to your Desktop.

In the event you already have Combofix, this is a new version that I need you to download.
It must be saved directly to your desktop.


1. Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

  • Temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any anti-malware real-time protection before performing a scan.
  • Click on this link to see a list of programs that should be disabled. The list is not all inclusive. If yours is not listed and you don't know how to disable it, please ask.
  • Remember to re enable the protection again afterwards before connecting to the net


2. Close any open browsers and make sure you are disconnected from the net. Unplug the cable if need be before running combofix.
  • IF you have not already done so Combofix will disconnect your machine from the Internet when it starts.
  • If there is no internet connection when Combofix has completely finished then restart your computer to restore back the connections.

3. Now double click on combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
When finished, it will produce a report for you.
Please post the "C:\ComboFix.txt" along with a new HijackThis log for further review


Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall or freeze.

Run this online scan from ESET

You will need to use Internet explorer for this scan!
  • First, accept the Terms of Use
  • Click: Start
  • When asked, allow the ActiveX control to install
  • Click: Start
  • Make sure the options:
    Remove found threats, and Scan unwanted applications
    are both checked!
  • Click: Scan

When the scan finishes, use Notepad to open the ESET report.

Well, this is strange. It didn't find anything. I think ThreatFire must have removed the Trojan before I uninstalled the program. And everything's been working fine on my computer. I've been able to access everything. Here are the logs, though.

Looks like you are running two anti-virus programs you'll need to remove one of them. This will cause the PC to freeze and run slow. Not seeing anything that looks like malware.
