I'm getting a search redirect every time I attempt to google or yahoo anything. Very annoying.

Hi Thresher,

When posting logs onto the forum from Notepad, please select Format and make sure Word Wrap is UNchecked - this prevents the extra line breaks and makes the reports readable.

Your Java is outdated and is now a security risk
Go to Start » Control Panel » Add/Remove Programs
Search all previous installed versions of Java. (J2SE Runtime Environment…. )
(They should have this icon next to it: [external image: Posted Image])
Remove all versions of Java.
Download and install the newest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) (version 6 update 4), from here:
http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp

You have Bittorrent, a P2P file sharing program installed on your computer. This program does not come bundled with malware as some similar programs do, but peer-to-peer file sharing networks are one of the biggest sources of malware we see. Anything downloaded from them cannot be trusted to be clean, because even if the file appears to be what it claims to be, it can have malware embedded in it.
I recommend you remove it, but of course the choice is yours.
You can remove Bittorrent via Add/Remove Programs.

Then, open HijackThis, choose Do a system scan only and place a checkmark next to the following lines:

Then close all open windows apart from HijackThis, press Fix checked, OK the prompt and close HijackThis.

Now, reboot your computer

Make hidden/system files and folders visible:
Click Start -> My Computer
Select the Tools menu, click Folder Options and select the View tab
Under the Hidden files and folders heading SELECT Show hidden files and folders
UNCHECK the Hide extensions for known file types option
UNCHECK the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option
Click Yes to confirm and press OK

Use Windows Explorer (right-click Start, select Explore) to find and delete the following file:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\admpars.dll

If you have trouble deleting this, please let me know in your next response.

Next, please do an online scan with Kaspersky:
Open Kaspersky Online Scanner in Internet Explorer using this link:
http://www.kaspersky.com/kos/eng/partner/d…kavwebscan.html

Click Accept and the web scanner will begin to load
If a yellow warning bar appears at the top of the browser, click it and choose Install ActiveX Control
You will be prompted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, click Install
If you are prompted about another ActiveX control called Kaspersky Online Scanner GUI part then allow it to be installed also.
The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files:
Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT and then Scan Settings
In the scan settings make that the following are selected:
- Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
Extended (if available otherwise Standard)
- Scan Options:
Scan Archives
Scan Mail Bases
Click OK
Now under select a target to scan:Select My Computer
The program will start to scan your system.
Once the scan is complete, click on the Save as Text button and save the file to your desktop

Note for Internet Explorer 7 users: If at any time you have trouble with the accept button of the license, click on the Zoom tool located at the right bottom of the IE window and set the zoom to 75 %. Once the license is accepted, reset to 100%.

Once complete, please post the Kaspersky report and a new HijackThis log.

OK, I did as instructed on all accounts, and I am currently jammed up by: Cannot delete admpars : access is denied Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use… I await your instructions, sir!! Thanks again for helping me out with this…

Hi Thresher,

Please open Notepad: press Start->Run, type notepad into the box and press OK
Copy/paste the contents of the following code box into Notepad. Before starting select Format from the top menu and make sure Word Wrap is NOT checked.

Go to the menu at the top of the Notepad File and Save as
Save it to your Desktop as "runme.bat" (you MUST include the quotes)
Locate runme.bat on your Desktop and double-click it. A black box should open and close after a short time, this is normal. Another text file should appear on your Desktop called results.txt, do not open it until the black box has closed. Post the contents of this file in your next response.

Once complete, please post the results.txt and a new HijackThis log.

also, the java site is giving me a hard time downloading the required files… Error 1606 could not access network location.. Dont' know if this is a problem with my stuff or java's site…

Hi Thresher,

Please try using HijackThis to delete this file:

Close all open programs as this step will require a reboot.

Open HijackThis and choose Open the Misc Tools section
Click the Delete a file on reboot… button
Copy/paste this file and path into the box and press Open:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\admpars.dll
When asked to reboot now, say Yes

Once complete, please post a new HijackThis log.

Hi Thresher,

It's proving a little stubborn, we'll try using a special tool to remove it:

Download FileASSASSIN to your Desktop

Unzip the files to a new folder on your Desktop (right-click, select Extract All…, press Next twice and then Finish)
Open the folder and double-click FileASSASSIN.exe (with the lightning bolt icon) to start the program
Copy/paste the following file path into the white box:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\admpars.dll
Then place a checkmark next to Delete file and press Execute
Once the program has reported the result please close it.

Once complete, please post a new HijackThis log and let me know if FileASSASSIN reported success.
