Hi Cesarina,

I am going to look over your log, in the meantime drag Combofix to the trash and download and run the new version.

Download ComboFix from Here or Here to your Desktop.

1. Close any open browsers.

2. Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

  • Double click combofix.exe and follow the prompts.
  • When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post the Combofix log and a HiJackthis log in your next reply
Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while its running. That may cause it to stall

Post the new Combofix log and a New Hijackthis log

Cesarina,

Let me explain how this all works. If your system is 100% clean of infections then every entry on your HJT ( Hijackthis log ) will be legitimate . If your infected with a virus or malware it will show up on your log. All the tools and procedures have been written by some great people in the malware removal community. They have put in a lot of time and thought so that we have the tools and knowledge to clean someones computer of all the latest threats going around. You need to re read my instructions, there all listed in order for a reason .

Your system is pretty heavily infected and the longer you put off cleaning it you take the chance of this garbage downloading other malware or doing more harm to your system. You are infected with the latest version of the Vundo Trojan which has infected some of your legitimate programs, we need to clean this up real quick.

I need you to follow the instructions that I posted .

1. Drag Combofix to the trash or right click on it and select Delete ( as this program is updated on a regular basis )

2. Download the latest version of Combofix ( to your desktop <-- Important )

3. Run Combofix and post the log in this forum.

4.THEN RUN HJT AND POST A NEW LOG.

Download ComboFix from Here to your Desktop.

**Note: In the event you already have Combofix, please delete it from your desktop and download this new version . It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop**

  • Close any open browsers and make sure you are disconnected from the net. Unplug the cable if need be before running combofix.
  • WARNING: IF you have not already done so Combofix will disconnect your machine from the Internet when it starts
  • Please do not re-connect your machine back to the Internet until Combofix has completely finished.

Ces, :woot:

Your Combofix and HJT log look fine, but lets make sure. There may be one suspicious entry left. Run this quick scan and post the log.

Download and save RenV to your desktop

Doubleclick RenV.exe.

When finished, it shall produce a new log for you. Post that log in your next reply.

Ken

Your doing great, we are almost done

Ces,

Everything looks fine

Here is a cleaner to clean out all the temp files that I told you about. Its free and yours to keep, you can run it every few weeks to keep your system from getting clogged up, I do.

Download CCleaner from here to clean temp files from your computer.
  • Double click on the file to start the installation of the program.
  • Select your language and click OK, then next.
  • Read the license agreement and click I Agree.
  • Click next to use the default install location. Click Install then finish to complete installation.
  • Double click the CCleaner shortcut on the desktop to start the program.
  • On the "Windows" tab, under "Internet Explorer," uncheck "Cookies" if you do not want them deleted. (If deleted, you will likely need to reenter your passwords at all sites where a cookie is used to recognize you when you visit).
  • If you use either the Firefox or Mozilla browsers, the box to uncheck for "Cookies" is on the Applications tab, under Firefox/Mozilla.
  • Click on the "Options" icon at the left side of the window, then click on "Advanced."
deselect "Only delete files in Windows Temp folders older than 48 hours."
  • Click on the "Cleaner" icon on the left side of the window, then click Run Cleaner to run the program.
  • Caution: It is not recommended that you use the "Issues" feature unless you are very familiar with the registry as it has been known to find legitimate items.
  • After CCleaner has completed its process, click Exit.

*NOTE* CCleaner deletes EVERYTHING out of temp/temporary folders. If you have anything in a temp folder, back it up or move it to a permanent folder prior to running CCleaner!

How do you feel your system is running now????

Cesarina, :wavey:

Verizon was not one of the programs that this trojan infected. You may have to give them a call and see if they can help you with the connection issue.

You need to keep in mind that this computer at first was very heavily infected and sometimes these infections leave a little damage on your system, I am not saying this is what happened but thats its just a possibility. Your system is clean now so you can go back to your regular internet activities.

You need to update your JAVA , its an entry point that some of this stuff tries to get into your system and by updating it , it will close that entry point.
  • Your Java is out of date and leaving your system vulnerable.
  • Go to your Add-Remove Programs in the Control Panel and uninstall any previous versions of Java (J2SE Runtime Environment)
  • It should have an icon next to it:
    Posted Image
    Select it and click Remove.
  • Reboot your system.
  • Then go to the Sun Microsystems and install the update
  • Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 4 <--This is what you need to download and install.
  • If you chose the online installation, it will prompt you to run the program.
  • If you chose the offline installation, you will be prompted to save the file and you can run it from wherever you saved it.
  • Then after install you can verify your installation here Sun Java Verify
I like to to do the offline installation and save the setup file in case I may need it in the future
