hi,

iam glad you didnt fall for downloading that worthless software.

ok we will download and run two apps and also use them in that order, you might download both of them first.

first is fixware out;

You may want to print out these instructions for reference, since you
will have to restart your computer during the fix.

Please download FixWareout from one of these sites:

http://downloads.subratam.org/Fixwareout.exe
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/file…Fixwareout.exe

Save it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, then make
sure Run fixit box is checked and click Finish. The fix will
begin; follow the prompts. You will be asked to reboot your computer;
please do so. Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is
normal.

At the end of the fix, you may need to restart your computer again.

Finally, please post a fresh HijackThis log, along with the contents of
the logfile C:\fixwareout\report.txt
——————————————————
next is smitfraudfix;

Download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri) to your Desktop:

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/files/smitfraudfix.php

Extract all the files to your Destop. A folder named SmitfraudFix will be created on your Desktop.
Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press Enter

This program will scan large amounts of files on your computer for known patterns so please be patient while it works. It will create a file named: c:\rapport.txt

stop at this point and post a HijackThis log along with the contents of the c:\rapport.txt.

Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.

afterwards post the fixwareout report, the smitfraud log and a new hjt log please.

hi DannyN,

ok good. thanks for the info. now its time to run step 2 of the smitfraud fix. run it in safe mode:

copy/paste this part into notepad and save it somewhere so you can find it in safe mode:
to reach safe mode you would tap the f8 key during a computer restart, chose the first option from the list:safe mode, log in to your usual account.

______________________________
once in safe mode:

Open the SmitfraudFix Folder, then double-click smitfraudfix.cmd file to start the tool.
Select option #2 - Clean by typing 2 and press Enter.
Wait for the tool to complete and disk cleanup to finish.
You will be prompted : "Registry cleaning - Do you want to clean the registry ?" answer Yes by typing Y and hit Enter.

The tool will also check if wininet.dll is infected. If a clean version is found, you will be prompted to replace wininet.dll. Answer Yes to the question "Replace infected file ?" by typing Y and hit Enter.

A reboot may be needed to finish the cleaning process, if you computer does not restart automatically please do it yourself manually.

The tool will create a log named rapport.txt in the root of your drive, eg: Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed. Please post that log in next reply.
————————————————
yet another download to get and run. run it in safe mode also

Download SDFix and save it to your Desktop.

http://downloads.andymanchesta.com/RemovalTools/SDFix.exe

Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to %systemdrive%
(Drive that contains the Windows Directory, typically C:\SDFix)

Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :

* Restart your computer
* After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
* Instead of Windows loading as normal, the Advanced Options Menu should appear;
* Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press Enter.
* Choose your usual account.

* Open the extracted SDFix folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
* Type Y to begin the cleanup process.
* It will remove any Trojan Services and Registry Entries that it finds then prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
* Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
* When the PC restarts the Fixtool will run again and complete the removal process then display Finished, press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
* Once the desktop icons load the SDFix report will open on screen and also save into the SDFix folder as Report.txt
(Report.txt will also be copied to Clipboard ready for posting back on the forum).
* Finally paste the contents of the Report.txt back on the forum with a new HijackThis log
————————————————
post the smithfraud log from step 2 of the smitfraud fix

hi, sorry for the delay. atfcleaner is much easier than doing it all manually. that last hjt log looks ok. hows it looking on your end now?
no problem at all i havent been speedy either.. theres still a few pop ups every now and then but besides that it seems to be pretty efficient.. thank you so much!
hi,
