[Resolved] Trojan.Pakes.abl found with AVG

Hello,
I know it's Christmas Eve, but thought I should go ahead and post this to get in the line-up of those needing assistance. I've done some surfing on the subjects of trojans etc. I'm running XP and have Norton 360, I also have another computer in the house on a wireless router (also running XP).

I knew something was wrong when I go into Internet Explorer and request to surf for something, when I find a site I'd like to click on, it begins to go to the site and then gets redirected to another site mostly other search sites.

As I've seen recommended thru some of the previous problem logs, I've downloaded and ran AVG Anti-Spyware in safe mode, and it found 18 items, although I only saw the names of 9 cookies and then the Trojan.Pakes.abl. I requested to run a report after "Apply all Actions" but it said there were no reports available.

Before I started surfing for info on my redirection problem, I also ran Norton Utilities WinDoctor…it did find some registry issues but fixed.

I unplugged our computers from the internet last night because I found out that my daughters computer had psw.sinowal.a trojan. This whole thing has me really bummed.

I've downloaded Grisoft AVG Malware on the girls computer and it found 8,000+ items, mostly tracking cookies, but also an FCPred.jar downloading agent and accompanying .dll. and a registry change .class

On my computer, as I mentioned, has/had the Trojan.Pakes.abl virus. I downloaded the AVG Spyware and ran it, I'm assuming that it found it and removed it because I did a system scan in safe mode today and it didn't find anything other than 18 tracking cookies. But…this afternoon my internet keeps redirecting me.
When opening Yahoo I never get the sight that I want, I just get redirected to another search sight. So, I know I'm not completely fixed. I also get pop-ups telling me I have problems and to download their spyware removers etc. OnLine Guard as well as Dr. Protection, etc… I went to Microsoft and tried to do an update for Outlook etc…got an Error code 0X52F Told me that it could not update (Failed). I'm also concerned that my internet security Norton360 is not working and that additional hackers could be in retrieving or doing all sorts of things.

I also found whataboutadog.com in my trusted sites in IE.

I'm currently running TrendMicro Housecall on my computer as I'm typing. It says it has 36 minutes left to scan.

I ran AdAware as well as Spybot search and destroy…but that was before downloading and running AVG and they didn't find the Pakes. I also ran Norton Disk Doctor.

Please let me know if I'm in bad shape. Would it be best to just do a system restore, or reformatting the hard drive and reload my stuff?

Should I start another thread for my daughters computer? I've asked the family to pray for her, as I'm not letting her use the computer while it's infected. She's ready to die!

However, I've noticed that my Task Manager is ghosted out (It was before but I can't recall how to undo that)
The scan I was doing when I last messaged did find "grayware" but before I could write down the names, my IE shut down. Also, when rebooting after running the things you mentioned, I got a pop up screen that quickly disappeared…said something about memory could not be read…

I did a Yahoo search for what the tech and ebay and both came up without being redirected.

Should I uninstall Norton 360 now that I have AVG on here, as i've heard it is not recommended to have two antivirus programs on the computer at one time?
