Complete error message: "Your computer was infected by trojan. It's dangerous for your computer, some files can be lost! Click OK to download the antispyware program to clean your system! (Recommended)". I tried the IEDefender self-help, but each time I download the tool, the .bat file is not present. UPDATE: I ran a "search" on my computer for "defender" and deleted everything that came up…and that problem appears to be gone. Still have Smitfraud showing up in scan though. If/when anyone responds, I'm happy to post a new log. However- didn't want to do so now, given the instructions re: not replying to your own first message.

Thank you!!! Happy Holidays!
Hello and welcome to the forum. Sorry about the delay in responding :( If you still need help, Scan again with HijackThis, and copy/paste" a new log file into this thread. Also please describe how your computer behaves at the moment.
Thanks so much for responding! Currently, computer is a bit slow (not too bad), but I'm getting pop-ups out the wazoo for all kinds of virus scan applications. I've tried a few of the self-help fixes on here (e.g., Smitfraud), but when I download/extract the files, the main file I need to execute is not there (i'm betting my work computer blocks it, but who knows). In any event, just getting those annoying pop-ups (constantly, securepc is the most frequent). The new log is below, again- thank you very much! [Edit: I deleted a few items where my company was identified and noted them as [Deleted by jharv]. If that's a problem, please let me know (only about three places, in what appear to be harmless lines of data.]

LD:

Yes- sorry, I had to run out of town and was away from my computer. Please see the HijackThis log below. I saved the AVG report to my desktop as a .txt file, but I cannot open it (which is odd). Any suggestions? If I can figure it out in the meantime, I will post it in another post. Thanks!

****Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall or freeze ****

*If there is no internet connection when Combofix has completely finished then restart your computer to restore back the connections.
LD: I'll try ComboFix again tonight- I let it run all night and it remained blank last night (didn't click on the screen). I'm hoping it was just a quirk last night and will work tonight.
Combofix should never take more that 20 minutes including the reboot if malware is detected, if it does open task-manager > use the processes tab (press ctrl alt and del at the same time) and end any process's of findstr, find, sed or swreg, then combofix should continue. If that happened we want to know and what process you had to end.
It appears that I exist to make your job harder! Combo continued to just sit there - again, not clicking on the screen. None of the processes identified above were running. To be clear, should I have ended any of the processes including those terms in any part of the process? Or, should that have been the process name?
Those would have been the process names.

Lets try this new program.
