[Resolved] svchost.exe problem~! Help needed.

Hi IT-Techs. My computer has just reformatted and i installed the Service Pack 2. Later then i realise my computer is running very slow. The svchost.exe is running high and the CPU performance is as high as 100% and stuff. Making the system whole thing slow. Erm…actually i have done nothing. I just searched around the internet to find a solution to it. But till now haven find one, so decided to try your forum. Thanks for reading and putting effort to solution it ! Welcome, sorry for the delay but we get so busy that most times it takes 4 days or so until we get to a log.

Your HJT log looks fine, why don't you run this online scanner from Kaspersky and if there is something bad on your system it will pick it up. If it comes up clean I can direct you to some windows support forums that can help you as we just do malware removal in this one.

Now run this online scan using Internet Explorer:

Next Click on Launch Kaspersky Online Scanner

You will be prompted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.
  • The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files:
  • Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT
  • Now click on Scan Settings
  • In the scan settings make that the following are selected:
  • Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
  • Standard
  • Scan Options:
  • Scan Archives
  • Scan Mail Bases
  • Click OK
  • Now under select a target to scan: Select My Computer
  • This will program will start and scan your system.
  • The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run.
  • Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
  • Now click on the Save as Text button:
  • Save the file to your desktop.
Post the log along with a New HJT Log into your next reply.

Hi Ken!

Woah u found my thread and replied! thanks going taking a look..actually i ran the kaspersky online scanner yesterday and totally no virus found but i deleted the logfile. So i shall re-scan it just to be accurate. Oh yah..i ran the ATF-Cleaner too..deleted all the selected stuff. =\

Hello,

Your HJT log looks fine and Kaspersky found nothing bad so this is most likely a windows issue. Svchost.exe is needed for windows to run, but it should not be running as high as you stated. Sometimes when programs conflict and bump heads it can cause this.
